I've been to New York, Chicago, and maybe Santa Fe as a child, but I don't count that.
On the World list, I've been to Florence and Rome (#2). I love Rome and want to go back. Florence was nice, but Rome was better IMO.

Interesting list, Maureen!
I've been to these 6 cities (brackets indicate no. of times):
New York (1)
San Francisco (3)
Chicago (I don't know as many of the trips were ages ago - 5-10?)
Vancouver (1)
Quebec City (4)
Montreal (countless, plus I lived there for a little while)
I'd love to see the others, especially Victoria :D and Seattle (and on the world list, definitely Sydney).

I have not yet made it to (but definitely hope to):
San Francisco
Chicago (besides an overnight stay at the airport)
Santa Fe
Seattle
I love Florence and the surrounding area (as a matter of fact, I love Italy :D ), but must admit that Rome does not do a lot for me.
Montreal and Quebec City are wonderful, but I would move to Vancouver in a flash (and, once there I would visit beautiful Victoria on a regular basis :) ); definitely my two of my favourite areas!
the only one I have missed is Charleston. I agree> All the cities I have been to on the list are great.
We are moving to SF next July. So excited!!! :p :D

I've been to Chicago (of course) and Montreal. I've been to two New York airports and almost went to NYC, but then 9-11 happened and the desire wasn't there for it as much. :( We had planned on going to Charleston when we lived in GA, but then we were relocated and never got around to it. It's still on my list of places I want to visit.
DH on the other hand has been to all of them, with the exception of Santa Fe.

On my "someday" list is Santa Fe, Vancouver, Victoria or Seattle. I have visited the other fabulous cities - Quebec City on our honeymoon. We've been talking about going back ever since. Gorgeous.

I'm curious how they came up with that list.
I've not been to either of the "world" destinations...DH motorcycled through Australia years before we even met. DRAT!

I also love Prague.
I've been to
Florence, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, New York and San Francisco.
In Europe I've also been to Venice, Istanbul, and Siena. I really liked Siena, I agree I have no desire to go to Cape Town. I've thought it funny when we travel to see Lebanon advertised as a tourist destination.
In the list for USA/Canada I've been to Chicago, Vancouver, Victoria and Seattle. My favorite Canadian city is Toronto. I love cities.
I was glad to see San Miguel de Allende on the Mexico list, that is one of my favorite cities in the world. I don't understand the listing for Oaxaca, I found it dirty and uninteresting.
I really liked Jerusalem in the Middle East, it is also be one of my favorite cities, just very interesting and so historical.
Any city that should be listed, that someone loved, that did not make the list.

couldn't pay me enough to go to Cape TownSome friends of ours just came back from South Africa, and loved it! Interesting the ideas we have of other places!
I've been to Paris and Rome on the European/world list.... So many places, so little money! :D

On the North America list, I've been to all except Quebec City and Victoria, but hope to get to both of those places someday.
On the European list, I've been to Paris, Prague, Krakow, Rome, Florence and Venice. Would very much like to see the others.
The only ones I've been to on the World list are the duplicates from the N.A. and Europe lists. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to go to Sydney and Chiang Mai!!!

I'm really impressed that there are so many Canadian cities on the list. So many Americans don't think about Canada as a vacation spot (my guess is that they don't think it will be "different" or "foreign" enough -- just a guess). We had friends make fun of us a few years back for going to Quebec City. It was fabulous.

I have been to San Francisco, Vancouver & Victoria. Lived in both Vancouver and Victoria. Funny thing, I live two hours from Seattle and have never actually visited! We have driven through a million times on our way to holiday destinations, but I have never stopped and checked out Pike Place, Salumi and other "must sees".
San Francisco is my favourite of the visited cities, then Vancouver, then Victoria.

Maybe. But sometimes it's about more than "ideas". I've been traveling by myself since I was 16, but South Africa is out of the question for me. Not so much because of "ideas" I've construed, but because of research and numbers. For example, this, from the U.S. State Department: "South Africa also has the highest incidence of reported rape in the world" and violent crime is off the charts. I've read so much, in so many different media, about the random violent crime there, that it strikes me as more than an "idea of a place", but a fact about crime and violence. I'm glad your friends had a joyous visit, but it doesn't change certain facts.. Let's just say that Cape Town doesn't make my top-10 "must see" cities, regardless of their happy holiday...

Good point, Canice... I didn't think of that... obviously, there were two of them... :o
Jamaica had some statistics like that at one time -- I haven't checked about that recently. They recommended 'tours' for that reason -- resorts with guards at the gate, etc... no way to vacation, imo.
