View Full Version : ice cream makers
Hi- I think there has been discussion on the previous BBS about this, but I'd like your opinions about the best ice cream freezers- I have a big one that requires salt and ice, but was considering getting the newer kind that the bowl is put in freezer - ones by Krups, Cuisinart, Donvier, etc. Does anyone have suggestions for me? Thanks for the help!

I recently bought the Cuisinart ice cream maker and am really happy with it. It's very easy to use and produces excellent results. Also, I would highly recommend the mint chocolate chip recipe included in the instruction booklet - it tastes just like Breyers!

Hi Anna~
You might want to check the previous discussion of this topic from the archives page 3 ("Need some advice on Ice Cream Maker"): http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/Archives/Archive-000001/HTML/20000711-1-000048.html

I really enjoy the kind you place in the freezer the night before. No messing with salt, and ice. Also mine is small so it kind of helps with portion control!

I also recently received the Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker (from my husband - gotta love him!). Because we just moved into our new house, we kept it simple and made the Chocolate Fudgsicle Ice Cream (recipe included with the unit). Couldn't be any easier - milk and instant pudding mix! Everyone loves the stereotypical ice cream, but this was REALLY creamy and good http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif! And, since you don't make it with heavy cream, much nicer to the waist line - we didn't miss the extra fat at all!

TraceyK,
I received my Cuisinart a couple of weeks ago and made the Vanilla ice cream recipe using vanilla bean and it was delish! I want to try the chocolate pudding one next and glad that you reported it was great. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

An ice cream maker is the one thing I registered for that I really wanted, but didn't get at my bridal shower! Now I am glad I didn't get it because it wasn't a Cuisinart! Must have one of these soon! I learn something new from the BB every day!
I also have the cuisinart. I recently tried the fresh strawberry yogurt recipe that is in the booklet that came with the freezer. It is delicious. The instructions said run the unit for 25-30 minutes. I ran it for 30 minutes, but I recommend freezing for only the 25 minutes.
