Hey, y'all. Are there any pilates devotess out there? I have tried it but am not yet "hooked" as I have heard many people proclaim to be, so I wonder if it is my instructor or my fairly inflexible bod http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

P.S. I practice yoga pretty regularly--why is it (so far) more appealing to me than pilates? I really want to get into pilates if that is really how Jennifer Aniston et al. look so great!

I like pilates and find it relaxing, yet a good ab workout, especially. Don't know if I'm "hooked," but I do enjoy it. I've never done yoga, though, so can't make any comparisons.

LOVE it! In fact, I'm about to get changed and head out the door for a Pilates mat class. My instructor keeps the lights dim and the music low. It's such a relaxing... yet tough and effective... workout. Plus...I have visible ab definition for the FIRST time ever. This stuff really works! If you haven't tried Pilates, you're really missing something great!

I just tried Pilates for the first time on Saturday and totally fell in love with it.

The class was taught by a spinning instructor from the gym that I belong to, and she has abs to die for (actually her whole body is to die for). She spent an hour with a friend and I showing us mat and Reformer (machine) moves, and then I stayed for a Reformer class. I am going to take a mat class tonight and can't wait.

I have tried yoga and wasn't too big of a fan because of my inflexibility, however, I really enjoyed Pilates because I could feel the workout my muscles were getting but it was pain free, unlike lifting weights often is.

I highly recommend it to anyone, especially people with back pain (that's what it is designed for).
