I think I'm gonna really like this show. It was frustrating trying to get to know each of the characters in such a short time, and then at the end when they started to tie together it got a bit more muddled. But I can see a lot of potential for a good series.
Anyone else?

I watched this just because it happened to be on while I was knitting on the couch. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I like it! I think this could be a good show. I think there's an encore on tonight if anyone missed it and wants to watch!

I also really enjoyed this! And I thought they did a pretty good job of cramming a lot of stuff into one episode. I will definitely tune in next week.

Spoiler
Wasn't that a surprise when both brothers flew? I wasn't prepared for that.

DH and I saw it and liked it; we'll give it a chance. At least, unlike "Lost," something actually happens! We both thought the whole "stripper" character was completely gratuitous, though--out of all the jobs in the world, even the seedy ones, they had to pick that one . . . thought it brought the whole show down to a tacky level, when they could have accomplished the same character development with so many other "career choices" (!!); they just tossed in the hot babe to snag some of the panting guy viewers. Other than that, though, seems like a good series; definitely worth a TiVo session, just to see how all these characters interact w/o realizing it.

Cookiee- Yes! I was so surprised by that too!
SPOILER
Do you think the politician brother knew he could fly or did it just happen because he saw his brother falling?
Also, I was sad for the cheerleader when we found out who her dad is....

I kind of had a feeling after the mom said the dad was flying home that night, and then the possible-bad-guy was in the cab wanting to go home to his family, that he ws going to Odessa, TX. I'm not sure he's her real dad, though. I kind of think maybe he somehow knew she was "special" when she was a baby and has raised her in order to study her. I dunno.
Loved the show, though! It's not like anything else on TV right now, so it was so much fun to watch. I was sorry to see it end, and can't wait until next week!
Anyone understand what exactly the stripper's power is? I was wondering if she's got her power in order to be able to protect her son because he's going to grow up to be some amazing genius who will save the world.
Oh, and my favorite moment of the show was when the guy teleported himself to Times Square. I was just so happy for him!! :D

I caught it last night too - DH wanted to watch it and I happened to be around and got sucked in.
more on the spoilers
Yes, it sounded like the mom was acknowledging that her cheerleader daughter was not biologically theirs. Should have seen who her father was but missed that and was suprised. Did anyone else want to know if the man she saved from the fire, survived?
Were both brothers flying? Or was it the politician brother flying and carrying his brother? I wasn't sure about that. Can they only fly together? (if they were both flying). I don't think the older brother knew he could fly but I hadn't actually thought that he could have.
Who was the "stripper" leaving her son with? Her sister?? I think she'll eventually see things in the mirror - not just herself. DH seemed to think that but I'm not sure why. Her reflections strayed more and more from static as the show went on. But clearly she can do something besides see things in the mirror. And wasn't that whole scene of her bright son going to a private school even though their "lower class" straight out of a movie? I can't recall which one though.
I too enjoyed the Japanese man - I enjoyed the dialogue and his character.
I wasn't sure by the opening statement, are these all powers that have come about recently (i.e. something to do with the eclipse) or have they had them all along.
Man, I did not need another show to be sucked in to! Lost was enough for me last year.

I was wondering the same thing.
And I was reading a magazine while watching the show, so could someone fill me in on who the cheerleader's dad was.

The man that was ransacking the Indian (ex) professor's apartments and more or less threatened his son in the cab.

Kim, I think the cheerleader's friend said that the man she pulled out of the fire lived. It was when he caught up to her as she was walking home after the fire, and I thought he said something like "You saved that guy!"
Linda, the cheerleader's dad was the same man who was the passenger in the cab wanting to go to JFK, but then started talking to the driver all about his geneticist/professor father who was probably no longer teaching. The cab driver got scared and ran from the cab, and the passenger just got out and smiled. Then he shows up as the cheerleader's father at the end, and was shown in previews to be the evil guy on the show, saying he wants to learn more about the people with the powers.

Okay, I must have missed that he wasn't her biological dad - thanks!
Kari- I'm not quite sure what the "entertainer's" power is either...
I might DVR the encore tonight for DH to watch!

I was talking to my DH last night who reads a Fantasy Football message board and he actually made the comment that on their Heroes thread that the character was well received because the posters really liked the actress and the roles she's done before. I LOLed and said they probably read playboy for the articles too (and seeing some of their avatars, I don't think it's a stretch that some of them probably subscribe ;) ). I don't know the actress nor her previous roles but it seems your theory has some support!
However, some other interesting information/thoughts:
Apparently this was part 1 of what was originally planned to be a 2 hour series premiere. There are at least 2 more Heroes to be met. In previews we've seen a police officer than can hear people's thoughts and then apparently some other one that no ones knows about (so I'm not sure how it's known there's another one!)
Thought on the cheerleader's father - maybe he knows about her abilities and is on the hunt for information to help/protect her. He's certainly appearing to be the arch-enemy though - but I could see it being one of those twists.

Ali Larter is the actress who plays the stripper. She was in Legally Blonde (as the woman on trial for murder at the end) but that's the only other role I'm aware of... yes...I watch movies like Legally Blonde :o
I don't know how I missed the fact that the cheerleader is not their bio daughter because when I watched parts of it again with DH last night she clearly says "I think I'm old enough for you to tell me about my real parents now" or something like that...

Hey, 615bride, I loved Legally Blonde. Not every movie has to be Schindler's List. My favorite part was where she boosted the ego of the nerdy guy, in front of the hot babe, by talking to him on the steps of that building as if she's just dying to see him again . . .
. . . don't want to redirect the thread, but couldn't resist. Everyone needs brain candy now and then! :) I think Heroes will turn out to be a pretty involving show, w/all the interconnecting story lines especially.

I caught the encore and really enjoyed it too.
My only nit-picky comment.....I thought the scenes with the cheerleader were awfully lush and hilly to be in Odessa, TX LOL. Every time we drive through Midland/Odessa I think "Wow, it's flat and dry out here." And that's coming from someone who lives in the desert! ;)

Thanks testkitchen!
It also looks to me like the heor we haven't met yet (police officer) if from the tv show Felicity!
