I was just wondering if anyone had any tips on maintaining good posture. I know I slouch way too much but it's hard for me to remember to sit/stand up straight. How do you stay aware of your posture? Are there any exercises that can help (at home preferably)?

I think yoga does wonders for abs and for posture. There are lots of good tapes out there (and one or two threads on this board about the tapes). http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

I had horrible posture growing up (being 5'8" and 105 pounds at the age of 12 didn't help). I still struggle with it when I am tired. My mom taught me the trick of walking with your chin up. Not only is it good for the confidence but it seems almost impossible to have rounded shoulders when your chin is up.

Thanks for the hint about yoga. I think there is a lunchtime yoga class offered at work. I'll have to try it.

Laura - I'm sure height is part of my problem. I'm only 5'7'' but from 6th to 9th grade I was taller than almost everyone else. Aren't the teen years fun?

Another note on the height issue...
I have very good posture, in part, I believe, because I was a ballet dancer for 11 years, but also because I'm only 5'2" -- standing up tall makes me feel that way!
