Just wondering if anyone else likes Tae Bo as much as I do?

At the suggestion of a dietician friend, I started doing it 5 days/week last February. Within 5 months (of the Tae Bo plus healthy eating -- yeah, CL!!!!), I lost 22 pounds and reached my goal weight - plus lost a total of almost 20 inches overall and went down 2 sizes!!!! I am now maintaining at my goal weight.

Prior to finding Tae Bo, I just could not stick with ANYTHING. Sedentary was my middle name. I do the "basic" work-out mostly (30 minutes), but occasionally the "advanced" (almost an hour). There are LOTS of different videos, so you don't get bored. It is fast-paced and the time goes quickly. I just can't STAND those slow-moving exercise videos - I get bored outta my gourd!

I do it at 6:30 every morning (have to be at work at 8). That sounds grueling (and I have been known to refer to Billy at that hour as "Billy BLANKETY BLANK Blanks"!!!!) - but it works best for me then. After work I am just too tired.

I hope I don't sound like a Tae Bo infomercial!!! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif I really don't work for them at all!!! I just know that it worked for me, when I truly thought I was a lost (exercise) cause!

Lynn B,

Thanks for your enthusiastic and inspirational post on Tae Bo. I've heard a lot about it and I am curious but I haven't acted on my curiosity. Now, I feel I must! Have you been to a class or do you always do Tae Bo via video? I tend to prefer classes to videos. What do you recommend as a good first Tae Bo video to invest in?

Thanks!

I started doing Tae Bo over the holidays. We were going to be visiting my parents, so I knew I wouldn't have access to the gym. Normally when we're there, my husband and I try to run, but at Christmas it gets awfully cold to do that in Montana. So I bought a Tae Bo two-tape set -- one was just an instructional video that shows you how to do the moves, and the other one was the basic workout. I enjoy the workout, and it definitely gets me moving. While we were at my parents, I did the tape almost every morning. Now that I'm back home, I use the Tae Bo tape for days when I know I won't make it to the gym. It's a nice way to get a quick workout in. I think I'd like to get an advanced tape too, for days when I'm in the mood for a more strenuous workout.

Meg,

Thanks for your kind remarks!

I always do the video in my own living room. No classes anywhere in THIS part of the woods! But I kinda prefer it at home, anyway... no travel time, parking woes, etc. Just roll outta bed and there you are!

My first Tae Bo tapes were the "original" basic set, (blue, black & white box)purchased at some place like K-Mart, Walmart or Target. Probably 20-some dollars. Got the workout video plus an instructional video, and a coupon for a free 8 minute video (which I did get, and it is a heck of a work-out, let me tell you!) Since then, I have added to my Tae Bo "library", with the "Live" series, volumes 1-6 plus the "Live" 4 pack (which came with a basic workout tape, an advanced one, the instructional video and another 8 minute work-out) (All the work-outs are different, even the 8 minute ones). I use them all, but do find myself using the very first one the most.

There is a BB, (at least there used to be, haven't checked lately) at the Tae Bo website... I have checked it out a little and posted a few questions there in the past. It's a good resource if you need information or have specific (or general) questions.

Hope this helps! Keep us posted! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Hi Lynn,

Turns out my sister bought Tae Bo Basic (Billy Blanks). I think it might be the one you are referring to (blue, black and white box). I borrowed it from her. I am going away for the weekend but might have a chance to give it a try before my flight tomorrow. I will give it a try and let you know how it goes!

The Tae Bo tapes were a christmas gift from DH, after I had borrowed them from the library a couple times. I enjoy it. I especially like that it doesn't take much room compared to aerobics. My living room isn't that big and I can fit easily (just try a grapevine in a small room and still be aerobic http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif). I haven't tried the advanced work out yet though. How tough is it?

I want to thank you for starting this thread. I've had some Tae Bo tapes for about 2 years now and never really used them. You've motivated me to dust them off. I did the Basics twice this week and even got my husband to join me one of the times. We both liked it and are going to try to get in the habit of doing it in the morning before work. Although I'd have to say that our dog sure thinks we're nuts.

Bev,

The Advanced tape I have is indeed a WORK-OUT! <whew!> All of the advanced ones are almost an hour long (too long for me to do during the week in the mornings before work) -- but I do like to do it on the weekends sometimes. I own the Tae Bo Live Original one... and after I do it, I am SORE!!! It is a GREAT abs and butt work-out. MUCH better than "Abs of Steel", in my opinion! It is definately worth the time to do it -- still fast paced and the time does go fast.

slknight,
Thanks for the note! I am SO glad that you have been inspired! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!! You're making BILLY proud, I'm sure! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
