Yes, but according to the commercials, he also walked to the subway to get his food. I believe he ate a healthier sub than, say, a regular ham and cheese. It is amazing, though. Does sound boring to have the same thing everyday, but I'm sure he made other lifestyle changes as well. Hey, I'd give the credit to subway, too, if they were going to pay me for advertising!

I just had to comment on this, since I worked at Subway a few years ago when I was in college (where I met my husband...we were fellow Sandwich Artists). It just boggles my mind that he ate two subs there everyday (and only the turkey and veggies ones, no less). I worked there for four years, and by the time I left, I couldn't stand the sight, much less smell, of a sub sandwich. We would get free sandwiches on our work shifts, and somedays I couldn't even make myself eat one, even though I was starving. My friends were all jealous of me because they loved sub sandwiches, but when you continuously smell like onions and bologna (my nickname in my two-dimensional art class was "Onion" because I worked the lunch shift right before class and always brought the smell with me), subs just don't seem so appealing anymore. I actually had my first Subway sub since I quit this past summer when they introduced all their new breads. It was actually pretty tasty!

Danielle, I understand. I worked at a Quick Chek while going to college. I was there for a year and a half (this was over 10 years ago) and I still don't really like cold cuts! I feel bad when my husband wants to get subs for lunch. Ugh!

I just wonder, especially as a college student, where he got the money to eat out 2X a day, every day.....

I've actually eaten at the Subway where he did this. It's on the URI campus in N. Kingstown. It's a pretty amazing story.

I guess a sub would give you most of the basic food groups except fruit - starch, veggies and protein, but that would bore me to tears eating the same thing over and over.

When you think about it, it was basically portion control, which is the main component of losing weight. He wasn't making the sandwiches himself or any other dishes, so he couldn't put 1/2 pound of meat or tons of mayo on his sandwich. Not a lot different than using Jenny Craig or buying diet dinners in the frozen food section of the grocery store.

This same fellow was on 'Oprah' last week.
And as much as I don't believe most advertisements using what they say are 'real people', this guy really touched my heart.
He has lost a tremendous amount of weight, taken up exercising and has his very first girlfriend.
He said that he is now eating a full range of healthy, low fat foods (maybe someone should introduce him to CL:-)... but he does honestly attribute his initial weight loss to Subway...
Hey, whatever works.....
Sandy.

I know this sounds strange but to be honest -I think some guys are easier to please when it comes to weight loss. My SO can eat (and I shutter to say this) nothing but canned veggies and fruit when he wants to lose a lot of weight. The doctor told him if he could stand it - and he ate the right combo -it was fine. (I am of course trying to break him of that habit with CL and WW!)
