I'm just spreading this word anywhere I can think of! Many of you know my brother had a liver transplant a couple of months ago, and he and his family are going through a very rough time financially. My brother is a guitar player in the area and has a group "Smokin' Section" that plays blues. Anyway, the musical folks in the area are throwing a benefit for him Saturday at the Canal Club. I would insert an image of the flyer if I could figure out how! But here's the details. Besides the fact it's a benefit, and think it's going to be a fabulously fun event for anyone that likes blues! Here are the details:

BENEFIT FOR RICK!
A bunch of your favorite people and bands will have an all star jam to benefit our pal / incredible guitar player Rick Meek from the Smokin` Section band. Rick has recently undergone liver transplant surgery and has been out of work with piling medical bills. All proceeds will go directly to Rick and his family. So please come out and support the blues while helping out a great guy get through a tough time!

Performances by Smokin' Section, Terry Garland, Li'l Ronnie, The Bobcats, Billy Ray Hatley & the Show Dogs, Ivan Applerouth & the Southsiders, Mattie Phifer Band, Blues Flash, RYLO, Pure & Sinful, and Special Guests.

This article ran in the Weekend section of the Richmond Times-Dispatch today. I thought you might like to read it.

We wish your brother the best.

Wow Michelle! That's excellent! I knew they were supposed to put something in the paper today, and thanks so much for posting it for me. I'm sending it to all my family right now.

Hey Julie, we are in Richmond, I'll check it out and see if DH would like to go, he's a blues fan and a new Guitarist, so he may think this is cool.

I'll report back if we go! THANKS and prayers for your brother's recovery.

Wanda, I would love to hear about your experience if you go. My brother is planning to attend, at least for a little while. He's still very weak. He was hoping to play a couple of songs and has tried practicing but apparently he is not up to his own standards yet and thinks he will not be able to play.

My sister said Channel 6 had some coverage on TV about it this morning at 10am. Let's hope people are standing in line to get in!!!

Thanks for your prayers! :)

We are in Charlottesville. We have two young kiddies, but head to Richmond quite often. If we go this weekend, I will let you know.

Wishing him a speedy recovery.
