Good Morning everyone!
I need to take my daughter back to the place where we got her hair cut on Saturday. We paid 25 bucks!!! plus a tip and the person only cut the back half of her hair - she didn't cut her bangs or anything around her ears etc. Anyway, I called the salon yesterday and they said the manager would be in today so I will call today and ask that they allow us to come back and have someone (hopefully the manager) finish up the job. BTW, DD is 11 mths old with lots of hair. I was there for the whole thing but the girl was super fast and ended by putting DD hair is a rubber band so it wasn't obvious whether she had cut the front or not.
Saturday night we took her hair out of the rubber band and both DH and I thought it looked like she hadn't had her hair cut at all - and she really needs it to be cut at this point.
My question is, assuming we get a new person to finish cutting her hair should I be prepared to tip (again)?

I had a situation like that once, only the new stylist practically shaved my head! I went back to the manager for a free haircut (after it had grown for 2 months :o ) and kept going back to her after that! Most places will make it good, just to keep your business! Good luck with your DD's new haircut. :)
ETA: Ooops! Missed the tip question... :o Yes, if the second person does a good job of fixing... live and learn. :(

Most places will certainly provide a free fixer haircut.
However, as I understand it, your question is whether you need to tip a second time. I would think the answer is yes -- presuming that one would be tipping in the first place. You would be punishing the second person for the first person's screw up -- she is the one who shouldn't have been tipped.
Of course you can adjust the tip to the amount of work done.
Not that you asked but $25 for a haircut for an 11 month old seems excessive

Wow, that is a lot for a child's haircut. We go to a place and it is $10-12 plus tip for a child. DH and the kids go there. I go to a different salon where I pay $35 for a haircut (that is with tip). My hairdresser doesn't cut kids.

I guess I'm in the minority but I would not tip again in this situation.

I agree.
I'd tip since it's another person cutting the hair as well.

I would also offer a tip to the new cutter. I assume they won't charge you for the re-cut. The hair cutter might refuse the tip or might not, but you should offer it, based on what they charge for a hair cut.
BTW, I've taken DD back a couple of times over the years. It seems some stylists have their own ideas of what to do, despite what you tell them. Good luck!

I would not tip on the second trip. I recently had to have my own hair fixed (totally uneven) and although the salon did fix it free of charge, there was no way I was going to tip after that (having to make another appt., go back, etc.) It was the same girl that fixed it but even if it wasn't I would not have tipped. You're suffering enough inconvenience, I can't imagine paying more money in any form, tip or no.

I called this morning and the people at the salon were insistent that we come in today and that they would take care of everything. The manager re-cut my dd's hair and she was sooo nice to us. The hair cut is really cute too! I did giver her a tip and she did not try to refuse it.
Lrimirman and Blazedog - $25 bucks at a privately owned salon is pretty normal for Seattle but ..... it is total price gouging. They didn't wash or style DD's hair (not that I expected that they would) - so there is some good money to be made in kids hair salons!! FWIW, I pay $21 to get my hair cut and will take DD there once she doesn't need to be belted into a seat.
