I bought these at Walmart the other day and I just thought they were so dang cute! They were $2.50 each and I bought 6. I think I'll have to go buy atleast 2 more. They were with the holiday tableware stuff, not with the dishes. I have some ideas for them, but anyone have any recipes or ideas I can use?

What about Paula Deen's Pumpkin Gingerbread Trifle? I have been wanting to try it because of all the positive reviews but it makes a huge amount! I might have to head on over to Walmart and make a half batch in those mini trifle cups. So cute! That recipe could be lightened a bit. Darla
Pumpkin Gingerbread Trifle Recipe courtesy Paula Deen
See this recipe on air Thursday Nov. 09 at 1:00 AM ET/PT.
Show: Paula's Home Cooking
Episode: Thanksgiving
2 (14-ounce) packages gingerbread mix
1 (5.1-ounce) package cook-and-serve vanilla pudding mix
1 (30-ounce) can pumpkin pie filling
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 teaspoon ground cardamom or cinnamon
1 (12-ounce) container frozen whipped topping
1/2 cup gingersnaps, optional
Bake the gingerbread according to the package directions; cool completely. Meanwhile, prepare the pudding and set aside to cool. Stir the pumpkin pie filling, sugar, and cardamom into the pudding. Crumble 1 batch of gingerbread into the bottom of a large, pretty bowl. Pour 1/2 of the pudding mixture over the gingerbread, then add a layer of whipped topping. Repeat with the remaining gingerbread, pudding, and whipped topping. Sprinkle of the top with crushed gingersnaps, if desired. Refrigerate overnight. Trifle can be layered in a punch bowl.

I hope you guys can find these. They were brand new at my WM.
Darla, that looks kinda similar to a trifle I ate at a meeting last week. It was really good. They used spice cake and cool whip and a little more milk. I'd go w/ the whipped cream myself, though.

That looks good too. I already have purchased the gingerbread mix and vanilla pudding, so I'll try that one first but I'll keep this recipe too. I have to go with real whipped cream too. I don't like to eat Cool Whip . Darla

HOW CUTE?!!!!!!! I'm going to Wally Mart first thing tomorrow to get these, I have the big one. I have made PD's Pumpkin trifle but I wasn't impressed the pumpkin filling overpowered everything and I didn't like how the boxed gingerbread tasted, then again I had never made gingerbread till then. Maybe a spice cake mix would work too? I do want to try it out again though, maybe add another pkg of vanilla pudding or something...
Interesting to see that butterscotch pudding was used instead, I will have to try that!

I just checked these links and the ones from King arthur are available through amazon too. But if you go to king arthurs site they did do some updating of the site and it is a little easier to shop now. At least I think it is.

How much do they hold? I got mine about 20 years ago, in a set along with the large trifle bowl. I loved them -- and still do. :) My small ones hold about 2 cups, and are little large for a normal dessert serving. Not filled, the serving gives the illusion of being skimpy. I've often used them as salad bowls, as well as for desserts.

An idea for the mini-trifles from Jello website:
Easy Banana Pudding Parfaits
Prep Time: 15 min
Total Time: 30 min
Makes: 4 servings, 1 parfait each
24 NILLA Wafers, divided
2 cups cold milk
1 pkg. (4-serving size) JELL-O Banana Cream Flavor Instant Pudding & Pie Filling
3/4 cup thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping
1 medium banana, cut into 20 slices
CRUSH 20 of the wafers tor form coarse crumbs; set aside. Pour milk into medium bowl. Add dry pudding mix. Beat with wire whisk 2 min. Gently stir in whipped topping.
LAYER half of the wafers crumbs and 8 of the banana slices evenly in four individual parfait glasses or individual dessert dishes; cover with half of the pudding mixture. Repeat layers, reserving 4 of the banana slices for garnish. Cover and refrigerate parfaits at least 15 min. or up to 4 hours before serving. Wrap reserved banana slices tightly in plastic wrap; refrigerate until ready to use.
TOP each parfait with 1 each of the reserved wafers and banana slices just before serving.
And this one rated 5*'s:

Individual Tiramisu Trifles
These parfaitlike desserts can be assembled the day before the party and need no last-minute garnishes.
1 cup cold strong brewed coffee
3 tablespoons Marsala wine
1 (8-ounce) block 1/3-less-fat cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup (4 ounces) block-style fat-free cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup sugar
30 cakelike ladyfingers (2 1/2 [3-ounce] packages)
1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa
Combine coffee and wine; set aside.
Place cheeses in a medium bowl; beat with a mixer at medium speed until smooth. Gradually add sugar, beating until well blended.
Cut each ladyfinger crosswise into 3 pieces. Arrange 5 ladyfinger pieces into each of 9 wineglasses or small bowls; drizzle each serving with about 1 tablespoon coffee mixture. Spoon about 1 1/2 tablespoons cheese mixture into each glass. Repeat layers once; sprinkle evenly with cocoa. Cover and chill at least 1 hour.
Yield: 9 servings (serving size: 1 trifle)

I haven't bought mine yet, but I've already been thinking about using them (what a dork I am). How about using them for serving dips or dipping sauces, or at the bar and fill with olives, lemon/lime slices, stir sticks, etc? They'd probably make some cute candle holders too. Fill the bottom with some colored glass stones and set a votive on top. It's our turn to host our weekly card game this weekend, so I NEED them for my table setting :p
Do we have a consensus on the Pumpkin Trifle receipes yet? They would be great for my bonfire party. Right flavor and easy but which to make?

I restrained myself and only bought 4! My WalMart had them with their new holiday settings and also had them footed with red glass. They were cute, but I'm still in "fall" mode and I'm not thinking Christmas yet, so I stuck with the all clear glass. Can't wait to use them!

man $7.50 at BB&B with the coupon is too good to pass up. I will be there this weekend, coupon in hand! I'm so happy I got sick and hadn't made it to walmart yet.
as for the pumpkin trifle - i make the one with vanilla pudding and think it is excellent. I make my own whipped cream for it though, as I too am not a fan a cool whip. I also sprinkle my top whipped cream layer with cinnamon.
ETA: I forgot that I have a BB&B giftcard, so these lovely dishes are now FREE for me. YAHOO!

LOL>>>>>You have alot of company in your "dorkhood"...i daydream about that kind of stuff all the time...and i don't even entertain! How crazy is that?..but i always think...."one day...when i have the time...and actually meet some people"....i can get lost in thinking about planning stuff...fun...yet probably a bit WEIRD i suppose :o oh well...
you're ideas are great...(and lucky you..you have a card party with people to use them for!!)..and then there's...put a floating candle in it with cranberries at each place setting (for the guests i don't know and don't have over); etch the outside with a monogram and fill with candy and give as a gift; stick some grissini sticks (those cute Italian crispy skinny long breadsticks) in them down the middle of a table for grabbing/munching and an interesting centerpiece; putting different yummy icecream candies and toppings for a pretty sundae bar; oh yea....i could go on..and on.. somebody stop me.
