Has anyone here tried out any gardening software that they like?
I'm building a house and will have to landscape my own back yard. I love to garden so this is not a problem, but I'm relatively new to gardening and have no imagination. I thought that some gardening design software might help. I have Sierra's MasterCook so I went to their site but no one has really commented on the gardening design software. I also checked Consumer Reports and couldn't find anything there either. Has anyone tried the Sierra gardening software or any other? I'd love any comments/suggestions you could give me.
Thanks,
Nydia

Nydia, I bought landscaping software for my sister in law since she just loves to garden. I cannot for the life of me remember which one it was, but it cost about $40 and she said it did everything. I will have to find out which one it was for you. This was about a year and a half ago, so I'm sure that they have new ones by now. Also, if you go on Amazon, they have customer reviews on software. I find that to be very helpful.

Nydia,
When we built our house we went to several gardening centers and they were very helpful. sometimes for a small fee they will come to your house and help you plan. We also had a landscape designer come to our house and talked to us about what we wanted for no charge, then they left drew a blueprint of their recommendations and we could have them do the work or not, they gave us the blueprints before we even decided to use them. What we did was have the landscaper put in all the electrical and water lines and also the brick border for the grass area,(stuff we didn't feel comfortable doing) then we did the rest.
Good luck in whatever you decide Ann

I checked out the comments on Amazon.com and very few are favorable for any of the brands of landscaping software. Of course, it's common that more people report the bad things and not the good. I'm still in a quandry (sp?)... http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/frown.gif
Mrs. Reber:
I really would be interested in looking into the software you bought your sister-in-law, and if she has had any especially bad/good experiences with it.
Thanks,
Nydia
