I need help! I seem to be in a fitness funk the last couple of months. I still work out sporadically, I still eat right...most of the time. You get the picture. Between that and the holidays I am carrying an extra 5 right now and still had 5 to go. Anyway you look at it that adds up to 10. I have 4 months from today before my Switzerland trip and I want to be right where I need to be for that trip. Fit & fabulous. Any tips or advice to get me back on track? Maybe spring will help..the weather here (Atlanta) has sucked for the last 3 months.

Okay you have my Sunday morning confession. Can you help me?

Iqueen,

That's so funny...I've been raving about how wonderful the weather's been here! The temperatures have really been perfect for running, and it doesn't rain that much -- I love it!

Anyway, sorry, you didn't ask for a weather report http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

If you're just lacking in the excitement you get from your routine, you could probably try some new things to spark some new interest and motivation. Have you thought about picking up a new class, like kickboxing, spinning (which I love for an occasional change of pace) or yoga?

I'm not sure what you usually do for lunch, but it can be fun sometimes to experiment with making new bean, grain and pasta salads that you might not normally make for dinner. These can be relatively low-cal (especially if you eat out a lot), but really nutritious and filling.

I hope this may give you some ideas! Your trip to Switzerland sounds amazing -- where are you going?

Emily

I was in a funk for a few months too. The new year seemed to help me kick start again. But my real motivator is something that can motivate you. I'm going to Tibet in June. That high altitude (like the mountains of Switzerland) has thinner oxygen. The better lung capacity you have the easier your body will adjust to it and the more fun you can have. And the extremely long flight will be more comfortable in looser jeans. Save money for the trip by NOT buying larger jeans and losing the weight instead (that's how my mind is working, anyway http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif ).

All that said, I started going back to aerobics classes. The instructor motivates me to work harder and longer. The people shame me into showing up all the time. And when it gets tiresome, I remember Tibet. Only 3 1/2 months and I'd really like to be on 2 risers in my step class and a few pounds or inches lighter.

Here's another recommendation for variety. Give yourself a break from whatever it is that's boring you to tears, and try something new. New tape, new class, new machine, whatever it takes.

P.S. I'm so jealous of you world travelers. You'll have to give us full reports when you return so we can live vicariously through you.
