I am going to be starting a new job soon that has a gym. I am used to working out at home and wearing what ever I throw on-old t-shirt, lycra pants etc (I don't usually look to good!).
Anyway, in anticipation of working out at a gym, with other people, I am wondering what you wear and like to wear when you work out? What is most comfortable, what do you feel comfortable working out infront of others?

Thanks for your input!

I wear sweat pants or shorts with a T-shirt or tank top, depending on the state of my laundry. It's too hot in my gym to wear a sweatshirt or jacket or anything like that. I think it's kind of silly to get dressed up in cute little workout outfits that cost an arm and a leg because I don't see why anyone should care what I'm wearing at the gym as long as it's not indecent. In any case, I don't think that having a matching little outfit would help me to work out better. If your old T-shirt and lycra pants are comfortable, then why not wear that? http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

I have to agree. The important part is just to get there and do it! I work out at work and we have a varied scope of dress. Only 1 or 2 of those coordinated "cute" outfits. The rest are usually those free teeshirts from participating in walks and runs, etc. and comfortable shorts.

I wear sports bra, t-shirt, and soccer shorts. When I do cardio and get hot I take off my tshirt because it is cooler and then my shirt doesn't get all sweaty before I do weights. However, my sports bra hardly ever matches my shorts so it definately is not a fashion thing. My husband is often horrified if I go out running in a blue sports bar and green shorts! I say, who cares?

Usually I wear either biking shorts or running shorts, and a white shirt that's been retired from my "normal clothes collection." If I'm doing cardio on my off day or feeling like something skimpy http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/tongue.gif , I wear a full-body sports bra -- I love my stomach, but feel really self-consious exposing it in the gym. Weird, huh?

I wear a t-shirt and sweats but here's that silly part - my sweats are a little too big at the waste so they sit on my hips. I like them that way because they make me feel skinny. I know it's silly but if it gets me in the gym that's all that matters.

I must match when I go to the gym-I've always been silly about that. But I only own black pants (Leggings and capris), so everything matches. Like Emilycat, I usually throw a tank top or shirt that has been retired from my good clothes (only cotton, tho). I do like to look neat when I work out-somehow, I don't know how, it motivates me. If I look like a slob, I feel too much like a couch potato to want to work out.
