Hi! I've been reading this board for awhile, but have never posted, but now I have a question for you all.

Have you ever had a vitamin pill that made you sick to your stomach? I have started feeling queasy almost every morning since starting to take a vitamin pill right before bed. It doesn't seem like that would cause the nausea, but that is the only change in my routine (I know I'm not pregnant!).

I've never had a vitamin make me feel sick, but I would think maybe you should eat something first before taking your vitamin. Even if it's just a few crackers or a glass of milk, just so you have something in your stomach. Taking pills with food usually helps if you are feeling sick from them. Either that, or maybe you need to find a new vitamin! Is this an over the counter vitamin or is it prescription? Do you have to take it on an empty stomach or doesn't it specify?

CLCH- I have taken a multivitamin that made me very sick to my stomach. Now I never can take one on an empty stomach. It's actually kind of common, especially if you have a sensitive stomach like I do.

Oh yeah. I never go completely without breakfast but sometimes I decide to get breakfast at work. I tried taking my multi with just a glass of juice - planning to eat once I got to work. Ugh! So sick. The feeling goes away within half an hour but after experiencing that a couple of times I never take my multi without food.

IRON! Iron, Iron, Iron. Makes me soooooo sick. It could be that your multivitamin has a lot of iron (like the ones made specifically for women) and now you are having a reaction to it.

Um, stay close to the bathroom!

I have the same problem. Here's a link with the advice I was given:

I can't take vitamins because they make me so sick. Both pregnancies I was unable to take my prenatal vitamin because they made me lose my meals. The doctor said that a meal was more important than a vitamin......

I am able to take very small vitamins--like while I'm eating a big meal, but even then--it just doesn't settle.

Otherwise, I have an iron stomach that can consume just about everything--so not sure why vitamins make me feel so yucky!

I have to agree that iron may be the culprit. I used to get sick when I took my multivitamin. Unfortunately, I was taking it with iced tea. The tannic acid in tea combines with iron to make ink in your stomach. I would combine the multivitamin with food and take the pill with water. Avoid grapefruit anything (grapefruit can cause bad interactions with medications) and don't take your vitamin with hot or iced tea. Good luck!

I have never gotten nauseous from regular multivitamins but prenatal vitamins made me nauseous, probably because of the higher mineral and iron content. My friend told me to take my vitamin with my dinner to prevent nausea. I tried it and didn't have any other problems with nausea from the vitamins after that.
