Hello, all...

Thanks to all who posted to the other video thread. I'm glad to see that there are so many exercise video aficianados on this board.

Here's my dilemma....I am looking for some seriously low-impact but high-effort videos. I don't like to hop or twist my knees in odd directions (I have a serious knee-injury phobia!)

Can any of you recommend videos that will give me a good workout for 60 minutes or so and won't endanger my knees? I welcome all suggestions!

Thanks!

What about line-dancing video tapes? I've never used tapes, but I used to go to line-dancing classes and it seemed to be pretty good cardio. I don't even like country music, but I do enjoy dancing. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

I don't have any specific recommendations for videos, but the best source we've found for videos is Collage Video (www.collagevideo.com). Their catalog has very extensive descriptions of the videos & I'm sure the web site is just as thorough.
I didn't see the previous postings, so sorry if this is a duplicate reference!

Low impact, very "knee-friendly" but challenging work-outs on video, huh??? I LOVE a challenge! You might consider Charlene Prickett's "Cruising Altitude" video. Your heart will get thumping while your knees have no real reason to complain. There ARE some lunges involved on occasion, but you could substitute moves until they pass and still keep the aerobic effect up nicely. The "Get the Fat Off - Crosstraining" tape by the same instructor is also an option. My heart and lungs never fail to appreciate this one, but I don't remember it being too hard on the knees. These are the two that immediately come to mind that meet all your criteria, but I'll try to keep thinking of others.

You might try Billy Blanks "Tae Bo" video tapes. They give you a very high effort total body workout, and I don't recall any high impact jumping, etc. (or if there is a little of it, you can certainly do all the moves non-high impact). You do kick (or lift) one leg to the side a lot while you stand on the other leg. I'm not sure if those are bad on the knees, but they didn't bother mine (although I don't particularly have bad knees). I liked the tapes because you get a great workout, but there is no complicated choreography. I don't do them much any more because I travel a lot with my job and don't stay in many hotels with VCRs in the rooms. You might want to check out the web site at www.taebo.com (http://www.taebo.com) I just looked at this web site and there are more tapes than when I ordered mine. I ordered the "Original" tapes (there are three of them).

I would totally recommend the Tae Bo "Gold" video. It is targeted and marketed especially to the "over 40" crowd, but it is a great (low impact) work-out for ANYONE. I LOVE it, and so does my 15 year old DD!

(BTW, I found mine at Wal-Mart for $24.99)
