So, one of my threads was yanked
(The one about the Australian Muslim leader who compared women who don't wear the hijab to so much meat left out for cats)

No biggie...I'm pretty sure we're all in agreement that he's a schmuck....I doubt there would have been dissent, but I ran it up the flagpole just to see who saluted....

But in justifying her action, JenniferCL added this little line...

"the thread didn't ask a question, and was in a forum called Cooking Light"

(unless I'm very mistaken, I _did_ post it in "other stuff")

Just thought I'd give you a heads up... apparently now all threads must initiate with a question....

obligatory question follows:
So, what do you think, is it a requirement that all threads post a question?

Obviously, many posts don't contain a question, such as those posting a review of a recipe.

I'm sure the objection to your thread was the religious content. Like they say, don't discuss religion or politics . . .

Don't forget sex!

So, did you hear the one about the Pope, the hooker, and the Democrat?

(censored by JenniferCL ;) )

Hmmm...if we're going to use those criteria, then the following threads should also be eliminated:

I scolded a woman an Walmart

A message from Armond

All Happy Birthday threads

Show your Jack 'O Lanterns

Dear So-and-So

Pet Peeve Alert

Mrs. Rebers House selling saga

Holy Cow sunset thread

World Series Champs

And those are only the non-question, non-Cooking Light threads from the first page.......................................

Might it be that posters are complaining to CL about subject content?

Maybe they are being pushed to monitor content and make a subjective opionion as to the worth of the post to this particular website. Personally, I think people get bored with just talking food. .... and sometimes need another topic or a safe place to vent. It is nice to be able to talk about whatever. That's what makes this bb so popular.

Well if there are going to be rules about subject content then they need to laid out clearly and enforced objectively. But the rules stated on CL and many other BBs are inherently subjective............

So, one of my threads was yanked...

FYI: In a brainless moment, I went to do a search for your thread (yes, the one that was yanked. Like I said: brainless). My criteria was basically "threads started by Escher, shown as threads (vs posts)". The search doesn't work. I tested the search engine it by running a search for my own threads; the search worked fine... Went back to search for yours again. Still nothing... Other searches for other members' threads were fine. Yours still yielded nothing...

I think you've been blacklisted...

Weird, I'm getting the same thing.

Note to board...searching for all my posts still works, even if searching for threads I've started doesn't...

If it is any consolation, I did post to you giving you credit for trying so hard to stir up controversy.
I know your posts are.... well, they are just your posts, if I don't like em, I just move on.
No biggie.

Must all subsequent posts include an answer???

Since you did start the post as a poll one would assume (of course you know what happens when one assumes...) there would be a question posed. But I AM a literalist at times.

No, it was a different post, not the poll that is posted now.

I know that. His recounting indicated that he didn't start a poll (although that was the title of his post) with a question.
But I'm not a mind reader nor do I want to become one.

I guess I'm not sure what the point of trying to antagonize JenniferCL is. CL is paying for these forums, so they get to make the rules, and decide whether to delete posts. Aren't you always cheerleading market-rule? If you don't like the way this one is run, stop visiting it.

I really appreciate how liberal the moderators are with this bb, and I hope you don't mess it up for the rest of us by acting like an ***.

Escher, Escher, Escher. You're so disingenuous. You're (often) clever and provocative, but come on.

You've got kids. These posts of yours remind me of when one goes rushing up all "Mooooom! He hit me!" when one's been teasing and tormenting one's poor brother for the last hour.

Wishful thinking, perhaps?
Nah, I've just got my undies in a wad. But CompassRose is correct, I can't exactly complain when I toe the line with such regularity.

I'm just _ahem_ encouraging her to save deletion for truly outrageous threads. I like to think I'm just a little bit better than the common spammer....
