My best friend wants me to make her wedding invitations, which I'm happy to do, I just need to find a source for the paper. The style she wants is a bit labor intesive, but I'm up for it! http://www.mygatsby.com/product.jsp?ProductID=406448

She wants the main invitation color to be chocolate brown, and the accent color to be Tiffany blue. Any thought on where I can find paper to use for these, and hopefully still keep them affordable?

I was looking at thepapermillstore.com and the closest they get to the blue I need is in card stock which would be too heavy. The brown doesn't go above 8 1/2" x 11" either, and I would need larger. Help?

For your brown paper, why couldn't you "seam" it at a fold? I looked at the link--you have two folds and a pocket--so you need a sheet of paper about 22-24" long, by the time you make the pocket and allow for an overlap--. I think I would try the craft stores or art supply shops for oversized paper. Depending on how long you have to do these, check out Dick Blick--it's an art supply store and I know they are online as well, but don't have a link right now--.

I made a variation of this with supplies from Paper Source (http://www.paper-source.com/). I'm not sure how far you are from Kansas City MO, but there is a store there on the Plaza. If you go to one of their stores, they are really good about helping you figure out a design and the supplies you'll need. The supplies aren't cheap, but they are reasonable. They will also help over the phone, but it's easier in person. I designed my invites at the Kansas City store, and then ordered the supplies over the phone later.

There is lots of information about DIY invitations in the forums on weddingchannel.com; that is where I figured out a lot of the adhesives to use on my paper stuff (invites, placecards, etc.). There are lots of people doing DIY pocketfold invitations. There is a picture thread (http://boards.weddingchannel.com/thread.jspa?threadID=407006&tstart=10) that is good for getting ideas. (this info is all more than a year old though...)

Editing to add photos of my invite - this is from our album.

If you have an Archiver's in your area, you may be able to find something there. It's a great store.

you could try a scrapbooking shop - they have paper in every color.

For my son's birth annoucements we found a local shop that sold paper and envelopes in a lot of colors and lots of sizes. It wasn't cheap but the selection was great. If you want an online shop, try looking at the ads in a wedding magazine.

A nice chocolate brown card stock is Coco Carnival Vellum cover, which papermill.com has in 12x12 sheets. I would also try envelopemall.com - they also sell sheets as well as envelopes.

I did my programs, menus, table numbers, etc. for my wedding and our colors were tiffany blue and silver (winter wedding). I got everything from Paper Source ( http://www.paper-source.com/ )as well and I think the color "pool" is what you'll want for the Tiffany blue.

I recently did invitations for my in-law's 50th wedding anniversary and used Paper Source as well. It is pricey but they have the best stuff!

I have ordered from Paper Source (http://www.paper-source.com/) before and been very pleased with their selection and service. I assume this is the same place that Candace mentioned.

Scrapbooking stores are a great place to look. They have papers and cardstock in a large assortment of colors, designs, and textures in various sizes. I would avoid your big box places that merely sell scrapbooking supplies (like Joann, Michael's, etc.) as their selection will not be as good. But Recollections (http://www.recollectionsonline.com/) (which is Michael's scrapbooking-only store) is a good bet, as are your local scrapbooking stores, a lot of which have great selections.
