Here's a silly question. What are olives... fruit or vegetable? I've been trying to keep track of how many servings of fruits and vegetables I'm eating each day. Of course I realize it doesn't matter what I call it but now I'm curious. I figure since it grows on a tree, it must be a fruit.

Cook's Thesaurus has them listed as a "fruit vegetable." Others in that category include avocado, eggplant, peppers (chile & sweet), squash and tomatoes.

Thanks Shirley! I've never heard of a fruit vegetable. I thought squash was simply a vegetable and a tomato a fruit, etc. I will also check out Cook's Thesaurus.
