I have rejoined our county rec center where they have a fabulous exercise room, Olympic size pool, etc. They have just this year begun using a computerized program called FitLinxx. A trainer sets you up on each machine programming in your range of motion, seat and back settings and proper weights. You are given a PIN and you check in with your PIN at a central screen each session which automatically enters you into each machine. At each machine, you enter your PIN and your stats come up telling you the proper settings and weight to use, records your reps, tells you if you're doing them too fast, congratulates you when you've completed or exceeded your target and asks if you want to add or subtract weight for the next session. It records your entire workout and produces charts and comparisons which you can access from your home computer. You can also record any additional workouts you do away from the gym such as walking, running, biking, etc. It's the coolest thing. Now I know that I'm doing each machine correctly, and the trainer keeps tabs on my record and lets me know if I should be adding more weights. For instance, she could tell I was doing the ab crunch too fast, so told me to check with her the next time I came in so she could go over it with me. The best part of it is that it's all FREE along with my very reasonable membership fee. Check out http://www.fitlinxx.com/ for a description.
