Good morning! I hope no one else starts this at the same time!

We have a busy weekend ahead. Now that Erin is 15, she is "on the books" at the movie store and has gotten more hours and a raise up to minimum wage. She is thrilled!

I have been exhausted this week and consequently the house needs a major makeover. I have to clean up the clutter in at least 3 rooms, laundry and I still haven't gotten out my winter clothes. It's 70 degrees here which is WONDERFUL but it's all going to end next week.

Our anniversary is tomorrow. 17 years! With the same person! :D Where does the time go? Andy may have to work so we'll have to be creative with going out to eat.

What is everyone else doing?

Loren,

Sounds like you have a full weekend.

DH comes home from a business trip sometime tonight. I am supposed to have some friends over to scrapbook, but not sure who is coming, if not too many, I may just cancel.

DD stayed home with a tummy ache (which she frequently gets) this one seems worse than her norm and she has the runs now. I have a hair appt., so my dad is coming to watch the kids. I am also supposed to pick up my produce at our co-op, so I hope my dad isn't too antsy about me doing that after my hair.

I have a lot of paperwork to do today and clean up my desk (piles of stuff!!!). When DH gets home we have to empty and clean out our large upright freezer because DH is going to pick up this year's 1/2 a cow at the processors tomorrow.

I have Girl Scout Cookie Training tomorrow and then a friend is having a scrapbook crop and wants to do it at my house, so I don't know who is coming to that either?

Sunday is sunday school and then MIL wants us to come over for lunch, but I haven't discussed this with DH yet.

I also still need to finalize my T-day (Friday is our meal) menu and generate a shopping list and time-line.

Seems like a busy week and DD being sick was not in the plans, hope she feels better soon!!!

Hi Loren!

I hear you on the energy thing. Good luck with the cleaning and happy anniversary!

Well, I have a fairly quiet weekend planned. Tonight I am just going to head home and hide from this migraine that won't let go. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow because I've already paid for a demo day at Loveland Ski Area. For $40 I get a lift ticket, lunch and unlimited ski demos. I need to buy new skis this year and this is a great opportunity to try them all on the same mountain and same day.

Sunday will either be back on the mountain or just getting stuff done around the house. I need to grocery shop for the things I need to make sweet potatoes for Thanksgiving. I'm making the chipotle mashed ones and then some other version since not everyone will appreciate the spicy ones.

So, what's everyone else up to?

Loren - Congrats on 17 years!

I'm going to hang out with my four closest friends tonight. They wanted to order pizza, but I said I'd make ribs and chicken instead. Already have in my freezer and wanted to use up, then will be healthier and less expensive than pizza.

Local library is having a book sale this weekend, so visiting that on Saturday. Hardback for $4, paperback for $1. Gonna have to set a spending limit for that one.

Church Thanksgiving Dinner (my 2nd of 3 T.G. dinners) on Sunday. I'm cooking turkey for the first time for 16 people. Based on that thread, decided to try out Jennie-O Oven Ready Turkey. Yeah, it's a bit of a cheat, but it'll be worth it for the time and work saving effort.

Good morning!!!

Loren, Happy Anniversary!! The warm weather has been great this week, hasn't it? The rain has been kind of a bummer but at least it isn't snow!

Lisa, hope DD is feeling better. That's the pits! With any luck it'll pass quickly & she'll be feeling better soon...

Robyn, enjoy the skiing!! I used to ski many years ago & had a ball. Now all I have to show for it is arthritic knees from a nasty fall I took.

Today I'm planning on hanging out in front of the computer monitoring the Woot-off (see my earlier post). Still waiting for the BOC or something I can grab for the boys for Christmas. DS#2 is taking his last 2 finals for the quarter today & will be home this afternoon. Two weeks off!!

I'm trying to get caught up on the laundry so I can start packing... we leave Sunday afternoon to fly to California to spend TG with DH's parents. DH, DS#2 & I are going Sunday & DS#1 flies out on Wednesday. He doesn't have a lot of vacation time from work.

Also waiting for the plumber... the tub faucet in the kids' bathroom is dripping & I got 2 choices... a new fixture for about $500 (parts & labor) or a rebuild for about $150. I'm taking the rebuild since I only have DS#2 still at home & he's at school 9 months out of the year. Sometimes I wish I'd been a plumber, I could have saved myself a lot of money over the years!!!

That's it from here...

Everybody have a great Thanksgiving!!! :)

Lisa - I was a Cookie Mom for 2 years. We had a large troop and 2 girls who always tried to outdo each other every year with sales. I had cases of cookies stacked literally up to the ceiling in my spare room. It was exhausting to go and sort the cookies at the drop-off place where all the troops in our town had their cookies delivered, bring several mini-van loads over to my house and then have the girls come and get theirs. Then of course we had to deliver our own. And the money! I have never had so much cash in my house in all my life! Then the paperwork to add up all the girls' cases and boxes of cookies and it has to be delineated which kind of cookie. I actually enjoyed it, which was a good thing, and I hope you do, too, otherwise it can be very painful! :)

Robyn - that demo day sounds like a great way to find new skis! That's so much better than buying some and hoping you like them. Do you get a great discount since you are a coach? My brother never paid for skis when he was a ski patrol or else it was so minimal it didn't even count as paying.

Sharon - we are also going to a book sale tomorrow. it's an annual event at a local church. The church takes book donations all year long and then once a year sell them all. The church is floor to ceiling in books and they are 25 cents for kids books and $1 for adult hardcovers and 50 cents for adult paperbacks. It is the book sale version of the annual Mother of All Rummage Sales that we just went to a couple weeks ago and we look forward to it just as much!

Good Morning everyone!

DH and I are going to see Casino Royale tonight when he picks me up from the train, kind of excited to see it!

Tomorrow I have a much needed haircut and then I have to clean a completly filthy home! Blah! But it will feel better when it is done! Might do dinner with friends that night, not sure yet. Sunday we might have dinner at FIL's house, or not. No one can seem to make up their mind. If we don't, I want to go to the Brandywine River Museum to see a show that ends Sunday. Oh and catch some of the football game! :p

Soooo glad next week is a short one!!!

Loren, Happy anniversary!!!

Sue, have a good trip to California! I would love to get out again soon!

Sharon, have fun tonight and good luck at the book sale. I think our libraries is tomorrow, if I have time and remember I'll stop by, too.

Robyn, I get migraines, too so I can understand the pain, I hope it goes away so you can try those skis!!

Lisa, good luck, sounds like a busy busy weekend!

Happy Anniversary Loren!

This weekend is turning out to be crazy (and not in a good way). The quarter-final game was bumped to 1pm Saturday instead of 7pm Saturday since the town couldn't supply enough police for a night game. So, Alex, my mother and I can't make the game since we have prior commitments. It should be a great game...it's a match up of last week when we barely beat the cross town rival 21-17 in the last two minutes of play.

I'm working a holiday boutique with my mom keeping me company on Saturday. Around all of that we need to get Alex to body composition testing for wrestling, him to his role play job, etc. It would be nice to be able to ask my ex...but I can't depend on him to be here on time since he lives 2 hours away (but he should be at the football game).

Sunday, I'm baking at the temple and then taking Alex to a meeting. Somewhere in all of this I need to grocery shop and stop by and see a friend whose mother is having a lumpectomy today :(

Hi all,

Happy Anniversary Loren!

Lisa,
I hope DD is feeting better soon. So, how long does it take to consume 1/2 a cow?

Robyn,
I hope your migrane goes a way so you can go skiing.

Sue,
Have a safe trip!

Linsley,
Will you come clean my house when you are done? :D

Tyra,
That's annoying about the game, Go Team! Who am I rooting for, BTW? :D
*hugs* to your friend & her mother.

As for us. When I leave work in 15 minutes I'm headed to the grocery store, then home to get the girls. We've got to get the stuff for Mariel's Birthday party, mainly so I can mail the invitations on Friday. We've also got to pick up 3 birthday presents (2 friends, 1 nephew). Both girls have birthday parties to attend tomorrow, and we've also go to start working on the leaves in the yard. Sunday we'll try to go to church, and Ginger might have softball practice with one of Al's coworkers.

Leigh - You are rooting for the San Ramon Valley Wolves to beat the Monte Vista Mustangs. :) The boys aren't real thrilled about this week since it is their cross town rival (which usually wins) and we just played them last week. Also, since we are the number 4 seed...if we win, we will be playing De La Salle next week for the semi-finals (De La Salle is the number 1 HS football team in the COUNTRY). Michael said he wished we had either lost to Monte Vista last week or beat Foothill so we wouldn't have been the number 4 seed ;)

Good Morning!
Loren, Happy anniversary to you and Andy. I hope you do something special.
Lisa, I was just exhausted reading your itinerary!
Robyn, I hope you feel better; your ski plans sound wonderful (not at all jealous :o ).
Sharon, your weekend sounds wonderful; I woudl pick homemade chicken and ribs over pizza any day...
Sue, I hope your TG trip is fun. I have to check out the "Woot-off" because I really have no idea what you are talking about!
Linsley, Casino Royale looks like fun. I hope Daniel Craig makes a decent JAmes Bond...
Tyra, your weekedn sounds like a whirlwind. Sorry you are missing your son's football game!
Leigh, so nice to see you, however briefly!

Well, I am working at my "other job" today, at the centre for people with Hiv/AIDS, so I don't start till 11. All the water in Vancouver is brown and we are under a boil water advisory, which makes kitchen work fun (or not). Then tonight I am off to a sushi and wine pairing!
Trying to plan my DBF's surprise birthday thing *(Vegas in January) this weekend too; I found plane tickets for 144 each way, which seems reasonable. Oh and I have to do some serios truffle production if I am going to get my Christmas gifts finished sometime this year

We have found that the 1/2 cow usually lasts for the whole year. However, this year we ran out in October (which is when we usually get our beef) and our cow was not ready until now. The cold weather here I think was a factor in it taking longer for the cattle to be ready, and my friend asked to be last on the list (she didnt' tell me this) and we both wanted the same processor, so I think I was waiting along with her.

DD seems to be feeling better and is carrying on like a crazy person because I don't want to take her to school. DH is out of town and I would have to drag both boys into the school to sign her in. Not to mention if she is fighting something, I would rather she rest today and not be sick all weekend or next week. They are doing holiday crafts today, so she wants to go. These are the moments where being a parent stinks, I have to second guess my decision to take her or not. DH is no help, he is busy having lunch with a co-worker and will be on his way home after lunch (3.5 hour drive).

Gracie,

I have been cookie mom for DD's old troop for the past 2 years, last year I was the area cookie cupboard too. We switched councils this year and I started a new troop. I am cookie mom (and troop leader) and that is ok. However, in my crazy can't say no moment, I agreed to do a 3 year term (starting next year) as our Neighborhood Service Unit Product Sales Manager, so I do the paperwork, etc. for our whole NSU. I am going to the training tomorrow with the current NSU Product Sales Manager so I can learn it while she is still responsible and it will be easier next year.

There was a reason behind my saying yes. GSUSA is doing a big overhaul of councils. Our state is going from 13 councils to 3. Our council is merging with 3 other councils and parts of another (so really like 5 merging into one) and that process will start in October and the majority of the changes will officially go into effect in October 2008. I wanted to be a part of the decision making surrounding product sales for this new council because the council I was in before does things in a way I really liked better than this current council. I hope as a NSU Product Sales Manager I can be a part of making sure it works out well for the troops.

Leigh - how are you? I mentioned I missed you on the BB MIA thread!

Sue - have a great TG trip! I hate having to have things fixed. We had a power outage awhile back and it fried our dishwasher. After letting it "rest" for awhile, we can turn it on, but instead of just pushing the ON button and shutting the door, we have to shut the door then turn it on using a knife blade to reach the button up under the countertop. Drives me nuts but it's better than needing a new one.

Linsley - enjoy the movie! Sean Connery is still my favorite Bond but I love the movies anyway.

Tyra - that's too bad you can't make the game. Hopefully they'll win so you can go next week. We don't have a game tonight - just on Thanksgiving which will end the season since we are not in the playoffs. I'm hoping for good weather since Andy and I going to see halftime and they won't perform in the rain.

Linda - what a nice surprise for DBF! It must be hard to keep all those plans secret.

Lisa - you are a pro at cookies! Do they still do all the tallying by hand or has someone invented a web-based program? The manual math was what was the biggest pain.

I am hoping to leave work early today and get a jump on the traffic. This particular Friday is always extra bad.

Loren,

(sorry I used your screen name before), Yes they still do the math by hand, it is a lot of paperwork, and this council it seems like more work the way they do it.

Gee, I guess this is the weekend for book sales!

Lisa - My Mom rocked as Cookie Mom when I was in scouts, and may do it again this year for a friend's troop. I'd love to do that in the future too. I'm a lifetime member of Scouts, but haven't done anything with them since move to NC.

Lindsey - You'll have to post a reivew of Casion Royale for us after you see it. I'm planning on seeing it when it comes to our Buck Fifty theatre - tired of spending full price on movies, so see the good ones there. I just have to wait a month or two.

Loren, I still haven't heard from the plumber... maybe he's not coming today after all. No big deal, the faucet is dripping cold water, so that's not so bad. Hey, if I don't have to shell out more money this week, that's ok. It can wait until I get back. My dishwasher is ornery, too... the door is broken & is held together with duct tape. It runs fine, but I'd rather not put any money into a 10 year old appliance that might kick the bucket 6 months from now.

Ok, back to checking on the Woot-off!!! I can't believe how much time I've wasted on this the past 2 days!! I did have to go out & run a couple of errands but I didn't miss anything I couldn't live without!
