Liz,
You are so wonderful!! Thank you! Brendan felt like he had a great interview- he came out relaxed and smiling. He was really happy with all of his answers and just came alive when they asked him to outline his lesson plan for a semester worth of units taking a class from the Civil War through the Vietnam War. He hadn't prepped for that, but was just inspired. In the end, he said that he had done his absolute best and it's now out of his hands. We should hear something in 2 or 3 weeks. In the meantime, he's still submitting other applications.
Oak Harbor/Whidbey Island is so beautiful, it just breaks your heart. So, we're praying this will be the one, but whatever is meant to happen, will!
Thanks again for your thoughts- your positive energy was definitely felt. I am so proud of him, no matter what happens! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

My brother has been stationed there for 5 years, we have been to visit every May and it is so beautiful. (We were born in Seattle and can't believe my parents could have ever left the area to move east in the 70s!)
Good luck to your husband, it seems like a wonderful place to live. It is on the top of our list if we can ever retire.

Julie-
I just wanted to add my good wishes as well! My visit up north to my folks who live in Bellevue actually took place in Oak Harbor, since that is where their new boat is moored. We stayed on the boat and puttered around all weekend. (Sadly, this meant no time for a hike, but DH and I plan on sneaking up some weekend and not letting the folks know. With the new boat, there will always be a water-related agenda for any future visit http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/rolleyes.gif , so we'll have to make time for Mt. Si without them knowing!) http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif
It is a gorgeous town on a gorgeous island! Just think, if he gets the job, you'll be hardly a stone's throw from Desolation Sound. Too bad there isn't an icon for being pea-green with envy! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

Mary Thanks for the well wishes!
We lived in Corvallis, OR when I was a toddler, while my dad finished his degree. He was offered a job in Chicago and was all set to accept, but at the last minute he decided to interview at a marine lab based in Sequim (on the Olympic Peninsula). He knew after one look around that it was the place he wanted to raise a family. Needless to say, I grew up in Sequim instead of Chicago. I wonder how different my life would have been http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif Nothing against Chi-town- it's an incredible city- and I eventually did live in Illinois (for MY career), but I feel so blessed having been raised in the Northwest!
Amanda DH and I climbed Mt Si the Monday after Easter- I thought of you!! There was still a good bit of snow the last mile, but it's a fantastic hike. Driving by last week, it looked completely clear- you must do it!
If Brendan does get this job, it's a salmon bake at my house, everyone invited!!! We'll do potluck- you have to bring your favorite CL recipe!
