Hi:
Have any used the service of JCPEnneys for window treatments? How was the experience time frame price etc?

Hi,
I am mid-process of using JCPenney for custom curtains, so I can't comment on the overall experience yet.
Time frame, I ordered them about a month ago and they told me I can anticipate them around Christmastime. I am told by friends that's a pretty standard time frame for them. I know of a local seamstress that would have made them for me and I would've had them about 3 weeks quicker.
Price. Well, I think it's outrageous. But then I've never in my life had to buy curtains (anywhere I've lived prior already had window treatments that I liked and kept), so it was a bit of sticker shock for me. But again, I'm told the price is normal. Especially for custom window treatments.
The woman that came out for the consultation was nothing but professional.

That's about all I can think of to comment on now. When I get closer to installation date, I'm sure I'll have more to say.....

Price. Well, I think it's outrageous.

I once priced custom treatments at JCP for a little window in my bathroom. All I wanted was a simple, plain cafe-style curtain - where you have sort of a valance on top and a curtain on the bottom. They wanted $400!

I said forget that - went to K-Mart and bought a perfectly nice Martha Stewart cafe-style set for $12. :D

vanessa,
we had balloon shades in our previous house on 5 of our windows that we bought at JC Penney. I couldn't find the kind I wanted anywhere else, and I looked all over. Mine weren't custom made so the price was not too bad, as I recall. And they took a couple weeks, I think. It was about 6 years ago so I don't remember exactly; just that they were what I wanted, were pretty reasonably priced and didn't take too long to get there.

Now the plantation shutters I got (to go underneath the balloon shades) from Lowe's was another story

I had custom made plantation shutters for my den. Got them on sale 240.00 instead of 680.00. delivered on time right color and great service.

Good experience would do it all over again. I even had free delivery. So cannot complain at all.

I used JC Penneys for some custom window treatments in our master bedroom. The room has very unusual window shapes and sizes so I had to order custom window treatments. I was VERY happy with the consultant that came out to measure and suggest different options. I ordered them when they were having a 50% off sale so that saved us a bundle of money though it was still quite expensive. It has been about 6-7 years since we installed the window treatments and they still look great. I think it took 4-6 weeks for delivery and installation. I was a very satisfied customer. :)

I personally haven't used them but my neighbor bought a room full of window treatments and blinds from them earlier this year. I think she may have outfitted about 8 windows with custom valances and blinds. The blinds (some or all) are remote control. She told me she spent about $5,000. I know it sounds like a lot but they were custom and a decorator came to her home with samples and designed the treatments. My neighbor was very happy with the experience. She said there were little things that went wrong; like the treatments being wrinkled; forgotten remote for the blinds; but nothing that would cause her to regret her decision.

The above neighbor was referred to Penney's by another neighbor. We're thinking of using them too based on the experience shared by us.

Thanks so much for your replies. I really appreciate it. Penney's has a sale now so I was trying to figure out service cost etc.

Window dressing is one of the hardest parts to decide in a house!!

I'm another one that's used JCP for custom windows. It was two years ago and I outfitted 5 windows with Roman Shades. I still love them. One I accidentally goofed and ordered the wrong fold style and they replaced it - I believe for a small cost plus the shipping or something. It was my fault, but nice I didn't have to pay the whole bigger price again. I believe I waited 3 or 4 weeks and then an outside of JCP person came and installed everything and then some. I was doing other windows at the same time and took advantage of professional help (paid for it too of course). I think my 5 roman shade windows came to around $1500. Hope this helps too.
Have fun!!
