Many of you may find this rather elementary, but I have recently discovered something about my eating habits. I have noticed that I go in streaks. For example, it seems that during the week, I do quite well with the whole, "eat healthy, don't snack, stick-to-a-certain-number-of-calories" thing. And I'm not real tempted to go nuts on dessert, or junk food or anything. In other words, I just don't find it really difficult. BUT, when I have my first indulgence...I believe this week it was some chocolate on Friday night, then I start to sliiiiiiide, and it snowballs into wanting to eat more and more goodies over the next couple of days. For example, if I treat myself to dessert, then the next day I'm STARVING, but if I just eat normal, my next day tends to stay normal, too. Does anyone else have this experience?

I do that too. Week days are fine, Im on a schedule bought and planned every meal. The weekend, I can go pretty crazy. I'll just about be through grocery shopping, and then it dawns on me that Im hungry. I'll get popcorn, or cheez-its and I bomb from there cause both of those are pretty addicting. Kind of reminds me of a commercial Sandy Duncan did for wheat thins sdomewhat long ago. You eat "one after the other"

Mbart- Being diabetic, I deal with this all the time. I've got a pretty intense sweet tooth and crave sweets. But once I give in to any little indulgence I just want more and more and more!! I try to go against the school of thought that you should have several mini-rewards each week so you don't feel deprived. If I do have just a little treat, it makes the next few days so much harder.

Mbart, I do the same thing!! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif I do so well during the week because I am on a schedule but then the weekend comes and it's hard for me to stay on that schedule. If I go off it just a little, I too, want more and more and more. I actually did that yesterday. I try not to be too hard on myself though since I'm good most of the time. I wasn't THAT out of control but I always feel better when I feel like I've conquered myself, if that makes sense? http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif
