Has anyone used e-diets.com? I signed up today in desperation because I am not making any progress in losing the 12 pounds I need to lose. I would like to hear how anyone has used the resources on this web site, how you liked it, etc.
Also, if you are thinking of signing up, go to the web site and fill out the information, but don't take the final step of actually registering and paying. Then, in a day or so, they will send you an e-mail saying that you can get $15 off the registration! (so it ended up being $25 for 3 months). Gaye

Hi, Gaye. I lurk on this board, but really only post on the Great Foods board. I am an ediets member. I joined last summer after returning from Australia. I had gained about 10 pounds on my month-long trip and was at my all-time high. I lost 12 pounds with ediets in about 2 months before "flaking out" and giving up my effort. I rejoined ediets last month to get this excess weight off for GOOD. I really need to lose about 60 pounds long-term.
As far as how good ediets is, it depends. I do not follow their food plan. I just try to stick to the calorie/fat numbers that they recommend. I also find that I do better using the exercise tapes I have been using rather than their exercises, which were too easy. I noticed that they have changed the plan somewhat since my first membership so that now you pay extra to have a fitness plan.
The reason I pay for it is the accountability. There is something about having to weigh in every week and PAYING for it that helps me. I have tried free sites where you check in, etc and I did not keep it up. I guess I need the extra motivation of paying for a service. I like the site in general.
One bad thing, though, about the site is that I think the weight goal they give you is unrealistic. I have done other assesments that take into account your fat percentage and those always put my goal about 20 pounds higher, which was what I thought my goal weight should be before joining ediets. I was shocked that they wanted me to go so low. So, don't be put off by that. You will know when you reach a healthy weight for you.
Sorry for such a long response. I have been stuck at the same weight for the last 5 weigh-ins (today is a wiegh-in day) and am feeling particularly down. Also, I am supposed to be studying, so I always look for ways to procrastinate!
Good luck!

Thanks Laura. The benefit I have seen already from joining ediet is that I can see that I have been eating too many calores. When I look at their diet plan, I know that what I have been eating (while not at all excessive) is too much if I really want to lose weight. So I am using their diet plan as a guide, although not following it to the letter (i.e. I don't like some of the recipes, so will substitute a CL recipe with similar calorie value).
I think you are right about $=accountability. I have never paid for weight loss advice/programs/products before and was loathe to do it. So now I want to get my money's worth!
Good luck with your weight loss and your studying. Gaye
