Home For The Holidays, w/ Holly Hunter. Here is what Netflix has to say:
"Claudia Larson is heading home for yet another chaotic and exasperating family Thanksgiving. But a new visitor offers some interesting possibilities. If they can duck the flying turkeys, this romance may just have a chance."
I think this movie is both very cute & a hoot. I really like Hunter, & all the supporting cast.

Well, it's not a movie exactly - I love "Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving." I've told the kids for years that we'll have toast and popcorn for Thanksgiving dinner sometime. ;)
"Trains, Planes, Automobiles" first came to mind, as well as "Miracle on 34th Street" because Chris Cringle is discovered during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. "Holiday Inn" is a good one too, as it is about an inn that is open only on holidays, with Thanksgiving being one of them.
I'll have to rent "Home for the Holidays." I don't think I've seen that one.

I'm going to have to re-watch Home for the Holidays --I rented it when it first came out on video and just remember hating it. The only character I liked was Robert Downey Jr's--everyone else I found loathsome, and I just wanted to reach into the screen and slap some sense into Holly Hunter. (um, yeah....I get a little too involved in movies sometimes.....)

I enjoyed What's Cooking? (www.amazon.com/Whats-Cooking-Mercedes-Ruehl/dp/B000092T3G/sr=1-1/qid=1164242119/ref=sr_1_1/102-5218009-0946518?ie=UTF8&s=dvd), about the issues of four families of different ethnicities celebrating Thanksgiving in Los Angeles. It's directed by Gurinda Chadha, who did Bend It Like Beckham.

Another vote for Home For The Holidays. I love that movie! Not Thanksgiving related but I liked Beautiful Girls a lot too. Came out a year later.

You're not the only one. I know a lot of people who really didn't like this movie. I loved it. First off, I adore Rober Downey Jr. Personal disasters aside (or maybe because of them)he is a superb actor. And he and Holly Hunter were brillian together. I think the characters and the relationships between the family members is fascinating.
I need to get this out and watch it again!

Home for the Holidays is my favorite Thanksgiving movie! :D In fact, we just watched the first half of it tonight during dinner. It's our annual preparation for the visit home. We will watch the last half when we return on Sunday!! ;)
Favorite line... "I can't wait for G** D@**! Christmas". My Dad used to say that every year after he had survived the annual Thanksgiving family theatrics at our house.

Planes, Trains & Automobiles is our favorite :)
Would like to watch it sometime today while I'm cooking, but with 3 football games on I might be outnumbered
