I was on the treadmill last night, around mile 3 I suddenly experienced a weakening feeling (very hard to describe) in my front, right shin area that lasted for well over a mile. It was very strange in that it felt like my leg was going to give out. The pain did not radiate towards my knees at all, I couldn't even pinpoint what muscle exactly it was.......

I know it probably sounds crazy--but my first thought was some warning sign of some debilitating joint disease (ok, I'm an alarmist!). Anyone ever have this before?

I haven't had that happen to me, but actually, it sounds as though you might not have been sufficiently hydrated.

I have read, in various magazines including SHAPE that they've found insufficient hydration to be a major cause of shinsplints and other such ailments when you're trying to walk or jog.

You might wish to look into it...

It sounds like shin splints to me! Be careful, I got them in high school, ignored them and they turned into stress fractures! It still hurts to this day when I run!
