Greek names?

Anyone familiar with Greek names? A friend I keep in touch with periodically, but haven't seen in years, emailed me that she was a Grandma. The baby's name is Athanasi. I have no idea whether it is a boy's or a girl's name! I hate to have to ask her that! Can someone give me a clue?

Not overly familiar with Greek, but the references that I found online were for men. :)

ETA: Here (http://all-baby-names.com/names-ma257.html) is one website that lists the name under boys names. It actually comes up with the exact spelling under Russian names. A similar Greek name for a boy is Athanasius and for a girl it is Athanasia.

Checked with a Greek friend of mine- she confirms it's a boy's name.
