In the Cooking Light 5 Ingredient/15 minute cookbook, there is a recipe that calls for an ingredient "canned chili soup". Anybody ever heard of that? I can't find it in my grocery stores. Any substitute suggestions??
Also---is ground round the same as extra lean ground beef??
I love this cookbook, and many recipes have now become family favorites! I heartily recommend it!

I believe Campbell's makes a Chili Beef Soup. You may try and look for that!

I'm taking a wild stab here, but I believe they say "chili soup" to distinguish CHILI (the soup) from CHILI (the pepper).

I was just at the store today buying ground beef - actually ground round is usually labeled 90% lean ground beef, and ground sirloin is 95% lean ground beef....if that helps you! Most of CL recipes call for ground round, as oftentimes 95% lean ground beef can be too dry. I only found one recipe in my CL software that uses Ground sirloin (95% lean), but for example, tonight I made the curried beef and potatoes, and it called for 1 pound of ground round, but I used the ground sirloin anyway to cut the fat even further, and it tasted wonderful, not dry at all. So I would say use either...

Which recipe are you referring to? I got my cookbook out but wasn't sure what you were asking.

I meant to comment on the cookbook as well. It's one of my favorites. It's quick easy and everything I've made is really good.

The recipe I'm referring to is Chili-Cornbread Pie (pg. 89). It calls for low-fat chili beef soup. I just have never heard of "chili beef soup". Anyway, it doesn't matter now because, my sister gave me a wonderful recipe for a similar recipe called Chipotle Tamale Pie, and I made it yesterday and it was wonderful!! My husband and sons raved about it. She got the recipe off the internet. Here's the site, if you're interested: http://204.148.156.137/fbnr_web/Tango/FBNR/recipe.taf?function=detail&RecipeID=2179001135&Searchtype=recipelist&List=313.htm
I still love my Cooking Light 15/5 Cookbook. I've made the Fresh Tomato Pizza, Pork Chops with Dijon Cream Sauce, Mexican Chicken Skillet (twice) and the Peach Glazed Chicken. Everything really does only take 15 minutes to prepare! The only recipe that didn't turn out for me was the Creamy Chicken-Spinach Soup.
What's your favorite from this book??
