DW and I went to Las Vegas for a couple days. She for some training and me just along for the ride and to see my sister who lives there.
DW's training was in the MGM Grand where Tom Collichio has 2 restaurants, Craftsteak and 'wichcraft.

Well, I really wanted to try Craftsteak, but with blowing our dining out budget at The French Laundry this year, I went with 'wichcraft instead. LOL. Craftsteak is really expensive and everything is A la Carte. Yikes.
$52 for a steak, $10 for a side of carrots, you get the picture. So, 'wichcraft it was.
It's a sandwich place. You can eat there or get your food to go. They have cold and hot sandwiches, salads, soups, bags of chips, a soda machine, bottled sodas (Boylan), beer, wine, desserts too. So, the first day, I got a sandwich, chips and a soda. The sandwich was a roasted pork, coppa, pepper relish and fontina cheese on country bread panini. Very tasty. I don't know why but I expected the relish to be sweet, but it was like a dill (sour) relish. Price was $9.00. Chips were $2.00 and soda was $3.00. These are pretty average prices for "fast" food in a casino hotel. DW had lunch provided with her training so she didn't get a sandwich that day. Next day, when her class was over and we were getting ready to go to the airport, we went back and she tried a roasted turkey, avocado, bacon and balsamic onion on a roll sandwich. She said it was good, but was a bit heavy on the mayonaise. She doesn't care for a lot of mayo, and so that was more a personal preference than that the sandwich was bad. I had a meatloaf, cheddar, bacon and tomato relish on a roll sandwich. Very tasty, but the cheddar could have been sharper, it was a bit overwhelmed by the other ingredients. Again, personal preference, but the meatloaf was really good. Both were hot sandwiches and in the $9.00 range. Very filling too.
That's about all the eating out we did there as my sister made us dinner the one evening we were there with her. :D

And just why NOT a TC episode this week? Anyone know?

You might recall from season 1 that Colicchio opened a 'witchcraft outlet in SF recently, and for winning the sandwich Quick Fire round, Harold's mortadella sandwich is now on the menu. Not a mortadella person myself, but I've popped into 'witchcraft a couple of times, and I think it's a great concept with great exectution. Also a nice space (moderately industrial but with huge windows, flooding the place with light). Last time I had some kind of grilled ham, cheese and pears on cranberry walnut bread as I recall. It's a fine place and all, but Colicchio is so New York, it seems odd he'd open a place in California.

Jodi, thanks for the laugh first thing in the morning.

I guess he didn't put Harold's sandwich in all of the 'wichcraft restaurants as it wasn't in the one in Vegas.

Oh, Joel Robuchon's place is in the MGM Grand as well. It's the one Elia and Marcel worked at. (Well, maybe Marcel still works there, but not sure). Very, Very expensive place with jacket required.

That sounds like fantastic fun! I am jealous- I would love to dive into any of wichcraft's sandwiches!

Joel Robuchon is totally worth the price!!! We starved all day and did the 16 course tasting menu.

Yes you have to dress up and dinner for one costs as much as a car payment, but I have to say that was one of the best meals of my life and nothing I could/would/should replicate at home.

I've eaten at L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon too. Not quite as pricey but still expensive but worth it.

I didn't read your entire title and you had me so darned mad at my TIVO for not recording the episode. I refuse to open threads about my favorite shows until I've seen it so I spent forever trying to figure out why it didn't record and when the "repeat" was going to be on.

Next time you will. ;)
It wasn't on because of the tree lighting in Rockfeller center. Any businesses who have offices in Rockefeller were having Christmas (OK Holiday) parties and Bravo TV was no exception.
