...actually put that little "sheet of paper" icon next to their posts? (And what is it supposed to indicate?)

I'm not kidding, in all the years I've been on this board, and with the embarassingly high number of posts I have, I don't recall *once* having seen that icon when it wasn't announcing pornography, get-rich-quick schemes, or junk to buy. Haha, that said - it obviously gets my attention. ;)

Well, I had a theory that the sheet of paper icon showed up after someone reported a post to the moderators, but I just reported this thread to JenniferCL (testing only!), and it didn't get the icon, so my theory is all shot to heck.

On the page where it lists the different threads in a forum, you can choose to enter, there is a little grid at the bottom that explains the icons. The particular one you are referring to means hot topic with no posts. HTH!

Actually, the one she's referring to is a "post icon" - they show up at the bottom of the typing field when you go to post a thread or a reply. There are a list of icons you can choose from, the first being a "sheet of paper". There are also smilies

The hot topic icon is a red envelope. These icons are automatically assigned, you can't choose them.

But back to Canice's question.........every once in a great while, I see someone use that icon, but not very often. There must be something in spammer software that simply chooses the first post icon for some reason - but I'm not sure why they choose one at all????

I also thought it probably had to do with whatever automatic process they do to post their wonderfully exciting and informative comments. I mean, if the eye-catching titles don't just drag all of us in to see what exciting offers they're extending, that little piece of paper will surely do it! My guess is that it has to do with the piece of paper being the first item on the list.

We've really been bombarded with these crazies in the past 24 hours!

In computer interface iconography, a sheet of paper means "documentation" ... text, information, instructions, etc.
