He'd been partying the night before with George Clooney-and if I had a chance to get drunk with George Clooney and stay out all night with him...well, you know... :p
He just embarassed himself and he probrably had to drink to get up enough guts to promote his crappy movie. It's getting horrible reviews.
Anyway at least he didn't go off on a racist/antisemetic tirade like SOME people.

I had that show on in the background the other day - I was in another room - and I could hear most of the Lincoln bedroom story and how they - I forget his colorful words for describing it, Rosie tried to help him describe it probably so he'd keep it clean - basically "did it" all over that room.
He did seem out there, but I wasn't watching closely enough to realize he was drunk!
Oy.

I can't believe a producer backstage did not catch this before hand and prevent him from going on! You have to be really careful with live TV!

See, I didn't think he was acting drunk - just very hung over. ;)

I, too, thought he was pretty hungover, but he didn't seem out-n-out drunk to me. The tabloids made it seem like he was all over the place, with out of the blue stories about the Lincoln bedroom and sitting on Rosie's lap but all of that stuff was ellicited from him. I hope he doesn't take flak for this, it just wasn't that bad!

Compared to "teen idols" splaying their bits all over creation, I don't find DiVito out of line at all.
Eh. I thought it was funny. :)

Let's face it - the Lincoln bedroom and every other guest bedroom in the White House has probably seen alot of action. You get a chance to stay at the White House and you're not going to 'christen it'? :D Those walls must have lot of tales to tell.

He's too old to get that drunk. It hurts too much. Not that I would know...

Yeah, but drunk or sober, White House or outhouse, do we really want to hear about Danny Devito and Rhea Pearlman's sex life?????
That's the real question here! ;) :D

LOL...not at all and I didn't see the episode so I don't know how he expressed himself. Just saying I can't blame them and I'm sure they weren't the first. :D

I saw the show and thought he made a fool of himself, and I thought Rosie's actions were also quite silly (pulling him onto her lap, etc).
I wondered why they let him on - he certainly didn't promote the movie, which was why he was there. I lost respect for Danny DeVito and for The View.
I'll confess - I think the View has turned into the Rose O'Donnell Show - I liked Rosie when she had her own show, but I don't like how the dynamics of The View has changed. I think we get too much of her view and not enough of the others.
I hope Rosie gets her own show & gives The View back to 5 people who can express their views without being shouted down.

They've been married to each other for eons. I think it's a pleasant change to hear about MARRIED sex... if we have to hear it at all. :p

DH and I joke that that's why they call the show "THE" View. As in singular. Although I agree that all you get pretty much is Rosie's view, before that their views are fairly homogenous anyway (again, THE View). The only real dissenters are Elisabeth, who is such a wet wash rag and cannot articulate her views well at all, IMO (and I think she's swayed big time by the others on the panel and is less and less of a "conservative" viewpoint), and I thought Star had a differing view on things, but alas, she's gone.

I hope this doesn't offend you, but I completely agree with you. You couldn't have said it better. Thanks.

Better to be drunk/hung over on a tv show and embarass yourself than be out on the road driving and getting a DUI or worse, get in an accident and hurt or kill someone. Better to embarass yourself the way Danny Devito did (if he's even embarassed) than to make degrading remarks about an entire race or religion. All Danny Devito did was tell some silly stories and took a few jabs at Bush. I know many people who do that sober!

Agreed that it's not as bad as Mel Gibson or Michael Richards, but he did make fun of Bush's "stuttering". I'm sure people who stutter loved to be portrayed as bumbling idiots. It's just not nice and uncalled for, IMO. Stuttering is not a sign of stupidity. That's a very old stereotype.

The few times I have seen it since Rosie joined the show it seemed like that to me. I think that is just one of the many reasons why I avoid watching it, but I only caught it a few times when Star was on there.

This morning George Clooney was on the Today show being interviewed by Matt. I can't believe we're going into week 2 of this story! Enough!
And I'm with the camp who think Rosie has taken over the View. I'm not crazy about her as a host.
