I folded a load of laundry while DH made himself a pot of coffee. The (in)famous Ellensburg wind was gusting pretty hard, but we bundled up and set out.
I walked 3 laps to warm up (literally), then ran my 5K in a respectable-4:00-a.m.-wind-a-blowing 31:22. I walked for 2 1/2 more miles.
As I finished my run, the DJ put on James Taylor's "Fire and Rain", the sky was just beginning to lighten, the flames from the memorial candles were dancing in the wind- it made me cry!
We came home to feed the dog and now we are going out for pancakes.
I'm so glad I did it http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

KValley that is awesome. I am very impressed. I have been quite the slacker running of late (just haven't been enjoying it as much) but I am going out right now. Good Job!!

That's awesome, Julie! You should be really proud of yourself -- and doesn't it feel great to have done something so great that early in the morning? Now you have the whole day to bask in your glory http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Hey Julie,
You're not gonna believe this but I woke up at exactly 3:15 am this morning..on the nose!(that is actually not unusual for me to do, a little bit of an insomniac, I am)....anyway I thought of you and whether or not you really were dragging yourself out of bed while I tossed and turned and tried to get back to sleep.....maybe I shoulda gone with you!
Anyway, congrats on your first 5K..good job for a worthy cause. I am hoping to do one also after I run for a couple months..

Thanks, everyone! It really was a great experience.
The sweet coda to this adventure is that DH rose at 5:00 this morning to go for a run- the guy who swore off running about ten years ago. Over the weekend we signed up for another 5K on June 3 (which takes place at the more reasonable hour of 4:30 p.m.) http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Way to go KValley! You inspire me to get off of my bum-especially when I hear how good you feel afterwards. Good going, and good luck to you both in the future-It's helpful when you have someone to do it with you isn't it? http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif Zinnia

That's so great, Julie! Especially about your husband being inspired. Sounds like it was well worth getting up at 3:15. I was especially impressed that you folded laundry first! Way beyond my capacity at 3:15 in the morning. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif
