I had a fairly good week. I have to join the group of weekend piggers though. Lately, I've just been a little too lax on the weekends and that's not good.

I did make it to aerobics 4 days and my blue jeans are definately looser. So I guess it isn't too bad.

How about everyone else?

Thanks for starting us out Bev. Yeah, looser jeans! Dontcha love it?

My week was pretty good. It was a gorgeous weekend here in Indiana, so even though I didn't get all the run/walk intervals in that I wanted, I did make up for it with hard, outdoor labor! What was supposed to be a simple planting of vegetables and flowers turned into re-landscaping part of our front yard! All that digging, planting, hauling and hoeing really gave me a workout. And the results look nice too!

Eating was good as well. I spent so much time outside, there wasn't time to binge or any of that. However, we were working until the sun went down both days, so we ordered out - I'm looking forward to cooking again tonight.

Now that all my plants are in, it's supposed to be chilly and rainy for the next 5 days! Oh well, the plants would like it a little warmer than 40's at night, but at least they won't get brutalized by heat and sun http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif .

My goals this week are to locate a good yoga video and try it out. And all of the usual stuff....

Hope everyone had a good week!

I had a bad, bad week. I don't usually post here, but decided that I could really use some Healthy Living support! DH and I are in the process of moving, and on top of that, I am swamped at work (last week, I had several 12 hour days, including one night at the office until midnight). So, eating and exercising have taken a back seat to just trying to get the things I have to get done done.

Last week saw lots of eating out (since we're moving and things are scattered between two places) and NO exercise. From the Thursday before last, I didn't do anything physical (for 8 days in a row!) until Saturday morning when I went to kickboxing. Never again can I abandon my exercise program for that long, because after only 15 minutes of high-intensity cardio (I showed up 30 minutes late for class because, not being there all week, I had missed the announcements that we would be starting a half hour early that day), I thought I was going to have a stroke. It was a sad and pathetic sight!

Needless to say, I am determined to stay focused this week and work out at least 5 days, even if it means getting up at the crack of dawn to do it before work (I am definitely a night-time workout girl). Eating might not be much better, because we still won't be completely moved until next weekend, but at least I can balance it with some exercise. And I am going to really try hard to try to pick up healthy fast food instead of the junk I've been living off.

(And I have to add, after a week's worth of eating lots of junk food that I don't normally eat, that I really feel pretty crappy. After all the CL cooking, my body isn't used to all that fat, grease, salt, etc. and hasn't been handling it very well. It's wondering where all those fresh veggies and complex carbs went!)

I did not have a good week. My grandmother passed away and we had to travel for her funeral. As a result, I really didn't do any exercise, and I ate so-so. I didn't gain weight, so that is good, but I was getting into a roll with the step aerobics. I really need to start again today. There is always next week.

I finally started walking on my lunch hour at work. I waited till Wednesday and did just about a half hour. Thursday was a terrible day and I was talking myself out of walking BUT I did it and felt so much better for it. Friday I was raring to go. Dog gone though, I havent phoned a dance teacher yet. I figure I'll start this way for a bit, put a little money away on pay day. and go for it. I know the hours, all I need to do is show up. I have to admit though weekends I do tend to kick back a bit more. That isnt so good. I am eating better (wiser) now though.

Aggie94, moving is so hard on everything: exercise, eating right, not to mention just regular stuff like laundry and finding things! You sound very motivated, tho., so you'll get thru this, maybe even be more dedicated after the dust settles. Hang in there!

Sorry to hear about your loss, funnybone. Give yourself time to grieve.

My week was the same for me food-wise, but I missed two runs -- my husband was out of town, and I've gotten so used to running in the a.m., I'm just not motivated to go get a sitter and go in the p.m. anymore. One of the days he was gone I actually ran up and down my street, keeping site of my house so the kids could see me and call for me if they needed anything, for 40 minutes. I'm sure the neighbors thought I have finally flipped my lid. But hey, I figured it was kinda like running on a track. Plus, we live on a hill, so it was actually sort of challenging.

I did have one very happy realization last week. As I was checking out at the grocery store, I was asked for my driver's license. I glanced at it and realized that (gasp!) I have lost enough weight that I AM NO LONGER LYING ON MY DRIVER'S LICENSE!!! Big moment!
Hope you all stay motivated and remember two things; 1.) a crummy workout still leaves you in better shape than no workout, and also, 2.) nothing tastes as good as looking healthy feels!

My week last week was pretty bad. No exercise really other than running around after DD.

Food wise I didn't do too bad until the weekend. DD was sick all weekend and with daddy gone for the last four weeks (and counting), it all fell on me. She just wanted to be held so eating wasn't a priority. Not that I ate bad, just didn't eat! That is so bad.

I'm getting back into the swing of things this week and hopefully will be getting more exercise this week as well.

One bright note is that when my DH finally gets home in about two weeks, he will see a much smaller me.

Happy news to report- only one "bad" day last week food-wise, the other days I was at my target calories and close to target fat (I give myself a little more leeway with fat if I'm within calorie range). As for workouts, I got 3 60+ min. sessions in, less than the 5 I'm striving for, but still considerable. Sunday I gave myself permission not to work out and use all of my energy on the unpacking (I just moved too- it certainly does throw a wrench into the works!) and that was great too. I ended up losing 2.5 pounds! I'm up to 19.5 total and am feeling good- probably weighing what I did when I went to college (almost 10 years ago already!). And I just checked- I weigh less than I lied about on my license! WooHoo!!

Okay, I have a new goal. To weigh less than the "lie" on my driver's license. It isn't a signficant lie, but 7 pounds is a lot for me to lose. I did better last week with running and weightlifting but didn't get any yoga or pilates in the mix. My lower back has been bothering me and the yoga and Pilates can seem to aggravate it. Have a great week everyone.

I can relate to this! It is the way my husband and I get our walking done. We walk a circuit around our house and his parents' house (next door). We live in the country so the circuit is fairly large, probably 1/4 mile. But, the kids can either see us, "holler" for us, or run next door to their grandparents' house if anything happens. We walk this circuit for 30 minutes almost every night. It is fairly boring, and I'm sure people think we are crazy, but the only other choice is not walking. Gaye

I have been following a diet from eDiets.com for 3 weeks. Last week I lost 1 pound (a total of 2.5 pounds so far). It is a 1500 calorie per day diet (which, to me, is not a lot of food!) and I am proud to have stuck with it fairly well. I usually take one weekend day off, but only eat about 2000 calories that day. My main gripe is what a slow process this is! I have been fortunate most of my life not to have a weight problem, so I am surprised by what hard work losing weight is. I just assumed that I could lose the maximum safe amount of 2 pounds per week. Ha -- it's been more like 3/4 pound per week. But, I am determined to stick with it until I lose 12 pounds. Gaye

I had a pretty good week last week! I did three aerobic/cardio workouts, two strength workouts and one "chase the horse around the pasture" unexpected workout. Food was pretty good. I stayed within my "points" range most every day.
I decided to skip the evening glass of wine (or two) during the week and save that just for a weekend dinner. That will save me about 1000 calories per week!
I started off this week with a lowerbody workout Monday, and today was my only planned rest day. I usually find myself a little sore after the lower body workout, and it seems to be a good idea to give it a rest the next day. Tomorrow I plan a run/walk, upper body on Thursday, run/walk on Friday, and lower body again on Saturday. Sunday is run/walk and horsey rides....
I hope I can stay on track this week!
My main problem is not drinking enough water...I will have to do better.
Good job everyone!

I decided to start chioming in - who knows maybe it will help.

Yesterday I went to the gym and was told that the last time I swiped my membership card was 5/11 - that was 11 days without the gym. that's the longest I haven't gone in almost a year. One one hand, that's a big accomplishment for me. On the other hand, I see how easy it is to be side-tracked (my FIL has been in the hospital so I've been visiting him instead of the gym).

I guess what I've found helps me out the most, is my personal training sessions. Yesterday I signed up for another 20. There was a special running so I go the series for a 20% discount. It turns out to be ~$27/workout. I figure, that's the least I can spend on my health.

The next challange for me, working out more than the 2/week I see my trainer.

Kim, I'm in the same boat you are... I've had a cold and have only wanted to lay around. (At least I haven't had much of an appetite and have been drinking lots of fruit juices!) I was hoping to get in a good amount of exercise before this weekend when I probably won't get much at all b/c we'll be lounging around at the lake. I guess there's always next week to get back on track...

Congrats on all the accomplishments this week! And Mbart - picturing you running up and down the street cracks me up - but, whatever it takes!!! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

I need a swift kick in the rear, but then again, so do the staff at the Y. The YMCA has suddenly changed its babysitting hours. They used to have it from 8-8. I realize that these hours were very generous, but now they've changed them to 8-12 and 4-8 - the busiest times, the times that I purposely avoid. I loved going at 3 pm - I'd get in the car, pick up my son from school and then head on out, and still have time to come home and get dinner on the table at a reasonable hour. Now I come home from picking up my son and don't make it back out the door! I need to figure out a new routine before this turns into weeks absent from the gym, instead of just a few days!! I, and many other mothers, have sent in letters to complain, so maybe they'll hear us...
