MrsReber, SusanD informed us that you had your baby. Congratulations on your new arrival! (If I were talented enough to insert cool graphics, I'd put one here) http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

I'm sure that you have your hands full right now, but when you get the chance, I'd love to know how things went. And.... are you and Kyle blessed with a baby boy or a baby girl?

Again, congratulations!

IT'S A GIRL!!!

Casey Nicole Reber was born at 1:13am on May 16th, 2001. She was 7 pounds even, and
20 inches long. She came home (with her VERY PROUD Mommy & Daddy!) on Friday, May 18th.

Susan is doing fine, and she mentioned that she hoped that someone would post the "vital statistics" on the BB -- so I am honored to be able to be the one to do it!

Congratulations, Susan and Kyle... and WELCOME, CASEY!

Lynn - thanks so much for posting! I didn't know if I'd get on here or not today. It's been such a whirlwind and the last few days are a blur- maybe because I'm so tired??

Our daughter is such a beauty. She was born after 5-6 hours of labor. My water broke last Tuesday afternoon as we were getting ready to go to our last Lamaze class (the tour of the maternity ward, no less!). We were supposed to be at the hospital at 7:00 for the tour, but instead, we got there at 7:00 and went straight to a room! After my water broke (what a weird feeling) I called the doctor and she told me to go straight to the hospital since I wasn't in labor yet. They hooked me up to a machine to monitor the contractions. If I didn't go into labor by 8:30, they were going to induce. The contractions started to become regular around 8:00, only it was back labor. I do not wish this on anyone! I was so happy to have my wonderful coach there to remind me to breathe. Ha, easier said than done, but he did a great job, too. The labor went faster than the doctor expected. She left the hospital at 9:00, thinking since I was only dilated 3 cm, it'd take one hour per cm. Ha ha ha ha. I laugh at that. I was in agony by 11:00 and told Kyle that things were progressing quickly and he needed to go tell the nurse. She came in and said I was almost at 9cm. Luckily, they got me the epidural in time. Around 11:30, Casey decided to stop cooperating and instead of coming out, she turned her head. Didn't want it squished. So I do have plenty of stiches and some discomfort. However, I'd do it again. Took me 3 days to say that, but I certainly would. What a little angel face she has. And a perfectly round head. The doctors all said she looked like a c-section baby because she came out so perfect. Didn't want a funny looking head, I guess.

Oh, this is weird. When Casey stopped coming out, her heart rate dropped dramatically. We stopped, they put me on oxygen, and then we waited for the heartrate to come back up, which it did. Then, they got a nurse to do a "fundle". Never heard of it. This woman stood on a chair and pushed down on the top of my uterus with all her weight while I was supposed to "take a deep breath" and push. Yikes! It helped tremendously and she was born very soon after, but I felt like I had been beaten up badly for the next couple of days. They told me to tell the doctor next time what a fast labor I had because the next one will be even shorter. Hey, I can't complain about that!! I just hope it all goes as smoothly.

Thanks for all the wishes. I can't even put into words the feelings I feel when I see this child's litte chubby face and beautiful eyes!

I really am sentimental! When I read through all these posts and your description of Casey's "little chubby cheeks and beautiful eyes", I got all teary-eyed. What a wonderful experience it must be to be a mother! Congratulations, Susan!

Thanks for sharing your good news AND your experiences. It makes me even more eager to become a mother myself. Good luck managing all your "trip" requests with the baby -- remember only you & Kyle know what your little family will be able to handle at different stages. Enjoy yourselves!

MrsReber - As every one else has said, CONGRATULATIONS!! Thanks so much for writing in and telling us about your labor. I'm sure you and Kyle will be great parents. Your story had me almost in tears, but I'm sure that a lot of that is my first trimester hormones acting up again!! Please keep us posted on Casey's progress, and you and Kyle's progress, also.

Susan, CONGRATS! Soon you will reach a point when you will be able to take a deep breathe and realize that everything will be all right. I just remember that those first couple days at home were so stressful...me listening for her every breath! Finally, one afternoon, I put on some CDs on "random" and started dancing around the room with her.. the song that came on was "Don't worry about a thing, cause every little thing is going to be allright". I finally relaxed and enjoyed her and stopped worry so much(you never stop worrying all together!).

Update on me.. we are scheduled for another IVF in June. They give us VERY good odds this time. So, hopefully, I will be posting good news myself soon!

Have FUN!!!! And let someone else cook for a while!

Hello! Sorry I haven't been back in a few days! It does get hectic and I am so very tired. The best advice I ever got was to sleep while the baby was sleeping. Do I follow that advice? Of course not, I think "hey, time to take a shower and eat- then I can clean up the house". WRONG!! Will I ever learn? I hope so. We're getting a new couch today and Kyle has gone fishing. I can see the delivery truck pulling up while Casey wants to be fed. Hmmmmm.

Anyway, Kyle did do a great job as my coach, but I fear with the breastfeeding that he feels kind of useless right now and like I have Casey all the time. Believe me, my breasts could use a rest!! I think as things progress and she has a bit of a set "schedule" (yes, all you ladies with children can laugh out loud at that word) things will get a bit easier. I am trying to get her to feed alot between 6 and 12pm so that we can get a good 3 hours of sleep before she wakes up again. Then, when she does wake up, she's kind of tired so she'll go back to sleep in an hour. It worked out well the past two nights so I'm hoping we can continue. But you never know.

My stomach looks great, too. Not to brag- it certainly doesn't look like it used to and I can't fit into my regular clothes yet, but I don't look that bad, if I do say so myself. I can't wait until I can exercise again and regain some of my muscle. Oddly enough, however, it's kind of sad to not see that big belly when I look down. It makes me a bit sentimental. But I'd certainly do it all again for another beautiful child. The pain comes and goes, it's alot less than it was a few days ago so I'm recovering well, but the pain doesn't really matter when I have such a beautiful child to love. How am I going to go back to work?????

I have to ask my sister to post a picture on our website. I have emailed her a couple of them and when she has some time at work, I hope she can put them on so I can show off to everyone! Kyle and I are big show offs. Can you believe that my MIL has not been to our house once? She told us on two different days that she'd come by and she never showed up, but is now saying that Kyle told her she needs to make an appointment. Will the insanity ever end? She's trying to blame him for her own weirdness. Anyway, she's the one missing out. She'll figure that out soon enough. In the meantime, I can enjoy all my days with this precious gift from God.
