If I can't find the things that I want to purchase! Everything that is on the boys' christmas lists is out of stock!
Grrrr. . . . .
First day off and I'm getting nothing accomplished! Guess I'll go clean house!

Maybe we can help you track some things down. What are some of the items you are looking for? If it's a PS3, then sorry, can't help you there.

I got the Wii at Target last week - lucky timing. As for the DS lite, have you tried Costco? They have it online but it's pink, I think.

Best Buy and Circuit city will show you stores in your area that have it in stock. Have you tried them?
Looks like Amazon has the DS lite.

I'm trying to get Wii, also. A friend and I have an agreement that whichever of us luckily stumbles upon it, will buy two! :p

Target has the same feature - I used it yesterday to score the last Cosmic Catch in stock.

All of the Wal-marts around here are putting their Wii systems out at 8:00 AM. Some stores got 20 , some 10. (My governor's School student and I are wondering how we can get him one. We are on the road at that time, and his mom is out of town and can't get there....but we will figure something out. You might want to check in your area. Target, here, said that they would receive more mid-December. Don't lose hope. Just keep calling, maybe you will get lucky! I got lucky on a Playstation 2 when it was so hard to get and earlier (much earlier) happened to be in a store when they put up a display of Cabbage Patch dolls, when they were ALL the rage.
You still have awhile, just put on your sleuthing cap, write all of the appropriate phone numbers down and call them daily about their shipments.

I've walked into target twice in the past week and they had more than a few Wii systems in stock - they seem to be getting them often!

:( I've been unlucky at Target this week. They are cleaned out of everything. Walmart will be selling their at 8:00 tomorrow, but people are already lining up. Nuh uh, not doing it.
Good thing the boys aren't expecting too much this year, we only get them a couple of things for christmas - but I really wanted to surprise them with the Wii. It looks like something the whole family can do.
I should have started all this earlier, but I wanted to be done with student teaching before I started the Christmas rush . . . silly wabbit :)

Our Target only got 4 or 5 in on Sunday morning. People lined up starting around 4:00. They did say that they should be getting them in almost every day this week though. Any chance you can get to Target every day at 8:00? I know I can't. :(

I refuse to line up for most any gift but I did buy the Wii and accessories online at gamestop.com

I'm having a "duh" moment here, but how do you do this on their websites? I can't figure it out.

You're not having a "duh" moment; it doesn't look like you can do it with the Wii. On Circuitcity.com, normally you select the item you want, and then you can either add it to your shopping cart or see which stores have it. Since it's listed as sold out, it doesn't look like you can do it. Can't do it on Bestbuy.com either.

There is a spot where you enter your zip code to see what stores around have it. At Best Buy, you click on the item and then to the left there is Store Pickup link to click on. Circuit City is similar. I've found some items at the stores that weren't available online. If it doesn't give you that option, it's because it's not available.

Left the house a little early to check out the Wal-Mart situation at 6:00 AM. True enough, weren't releasing them until 8:00AM and they had a bench set out and 10 people were sitting on it. Someone was going to be disapointed.
We lost out, hope you have better luck. The guy at Wal-mart told me there were rumors that they were going to release a bunch of them a week before Christmas. Keep your ears open!

My Costco had lots of the DSLite systems yesterday.
We tried to buy some online around Thanksgiving, but we needed two (for two kids) and all of the online vendors were limiting us to one. Frustrating.
We ended up changing our minds and getting the Gameboy Advance system instead. We don't even know if our girls are going to love hand-held game systems, so we decided to go the cheaper route for now. Not sure if that was the right choice or not. . .
I can completely feel your pain about things being out of stock, though. Several of the things my daughters have asked for (like Moonsand, of all things) have disappeared as well.

Hurray on the DSLite!
I'll keep my fingers crossed on the Wii for you.
And FWIW, don't feel bad that you didn't start earlier - I'll be it wasn't any easier to find one.
DH actually expressed some interest in the Wii - I was shocked! He's so anti-video games. Something tells me we'll be getting one for the boys for next year which means I'll be buying one REALLY EARLY next year - like maybe in the summertime. :)
