Summer Clothes

Any good ideas for buying summer clothes now? We have just decided to spend Christmas in Aruba and I would like to buy a few new things before we go.

some stores sell 'resort wear' - Nordstrom and upscale shops. You could try online clearance but most of its gone at this point. Here in Phoenix I had this challenge when my infant son outgrew his clothes and I had to buy the next size shorts.

I noticed you live in CA - if you live coastal (or dirving distance) a lot of the surf shops sell summer stuff year around (bathing suits, shorts, shirts, sandals).

Resort wear is just starting to come in in some shops, some don't really get a good supply until late Dec / early January.

You might try consignment stores & places like Goodwill.

As someone who is living on a tropical island, I face this problem all the time.

Many sporting goods on-line retailers offer some summer clothers year around. Also LL Bean and Lands End can be quite helpful - call. If you have the time, scouring eBay can be quite fruitful (try the "BuyIt Now" items). When I lived in Florida, a great resource was the outlet malls for off-season clothing.

I do not suggest waiting till you arrive in Aruba to try to find something ~ expensive and fit can be a problematic.

I got the Eddie Bauer "spring preview" catalog in OCTOBER! So I know that retailer has spring stuff on line.

I also think other online places have inventory available all year round.

Just saw a Talbot's catalog with "vacation" wear in it. Try online.

Thanks for all your help. I'm going to try online stores. I also went to Old Navy today and picked up a pair of shorts/ capris and a short skirt.

Try Lands End -- Overstocks. Last time I looked they are selling summer wear at deep discounts, even sandals!
