I am very interested in the health benefits of the Mediterranean diet and have been looking for a book that describes it. I have a book by Dr. Bob Arnot (its packed and I cant remember the title) that describes the healthy diets of the Pima Indians, Asians, and the diet on the island of Crete. Although it is good, I wanted more info on specifically the Med one, and today I found this book. It is The Omega Diet by Artemis P Simopoulos. The author was raised in Greece and was dismayed upon moving to the states and seeing our choice of foods. She is now a Dr that specializes in nutrition and pediatricts and has done lots of research on the lack of Omega 3 fats paired with too much Omega 6 fats in our diet.

Parts of it get too "scientific" for me, but overall it is very interesting. I have read most of it one sitting today!

Just FYI

Hi Kim,

You might also want to check out the following site: www.meddiet.com (http://www.meddiet.com)

This site is by the folks who wrote "Low Fat Lies, High Fat Fraud and the Healthiest Diet in the World." One of the authors works here at Brown University with me and I heard her speak two weeks ago. She is fabulous and the philosophy (olive oil is good, too low fat is not good, whole food "peasant" diet is the healthiest, etc.) makes a lot of sense to me.

Enjoy!
