Well, how did you do????
I was really, really hoping for under 30 minutes, but managed 30:40. I had a 15 mph headwind during the second half, otherwise I think I could have done it. I got the new Nike speed/time/distance moniter on Friday and used it during the race. It was VERY cool. I set it to display my minutes/mile during the race, so I could see exactly where I was the whole time. It was a great way to keep me under the 10 minute mile mark. It does about 100 other things, and I think it will be most helpful for me when I am running on the road (away from home)and do not have a course laid out. I can use this to tell me how far I have gone.
Anyway, hope everyone had a successful run, Gina

This was a really fun race, but with a 10am start time in Florida it was also really HOT. I was hoping to finish in 28 minutes, but made it in 29:35. Still better than my previous 5K time. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
I also did the 1-mile fun run/walk with DH, at his pace. I was really proud of him because he ran almost the whole way, and only took one walk break. Now he's fired up to train for a 5K.
Gina, thanks again for inspiring us to participate. It was way cool to be part of something so big.

I finished my first 5k in 35 minutes! I did have to stop and walk a few times, but I ran most of it. Although it was a little discouraging to keep getting passed, on the one hand, and I felt that I hadn't trained nearly enough, I'm soooooo glad I did it. I feel very excited to train more regulary and find another 5k. Thanks again for promoting this! I never would've thought of registering or trying a 5k on my own. My DH had a very good time of 30:40, especially since it was also his first 5k.
And the bridal shower that I was hosting later in the day went very well!

Yea! Congratulations to all of you! And don't sweat it if you didn't make your goal; there's always the next one. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
I'm so ashamed to say that I didn't make the race. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/frown.gif My hamstring is mostly recovered; I can handle long runs and my normal mileage, but I haven't even started doing speed workouts yet because overextending it still bothers me a little, and I didn't want to chance pulling it by pushing myself too hard. So I ran 13 miles on Saturday instead. I felt so guilty that morning, knowing y'all were all out there giving it your best, but you all sound like you enjoyed the experience, so that's awesome!

I ended up not running either, and not because of an injury, but I didn't have anyone to watch the kids and I wasn't about to leave them at start with no one around to watch them. However, unlike Emily, I didn't feel guilty enough to go out and run and extra long run on my own. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/redface.gif
