So I picked up a couple of items at Eddie Bauer (first time I even went IN since posting this gripe (http://community.cookinglight.com/showthread.php?t=77371&highlight=eddie+bauer)about them) - a pair of corduroy pants and a corduroy shirt. The colors are fine together, but would I look like a complete doofus (you know, the kind of person who uses a word like doofus) if I wore them together? They're of similar weight and wale, but you know....

I don't know about doofus :D but ...

I think there is a kind of person who wears matchy-matchy tops & bottoms, and those who don't. I'm pretty firmly in the "don't" category, unless it's something like a suit. Something like corduroy is so distinctive, I'd shy away from wearing both pants and a shirt.

Canice - if you were going to wear the top open like a jacket with a tank underneath...I'd say go for it. Otherwise, I wouldn't wear them together.

I wouldn't wear them together either. I think it would be too much.

OK. Thank you for confirming what I guess I already knew - for some reason I often have trouble matching fabrics to corduroy pants. And haha, funniegrrl, you pretty much put my thoughts (fears) into words.

If anyone spies me fingering a cheery "seasonal" sweater, please have Debie stage an intervention. I'll pay her airfare out if necessary.

Me too. :D Because we were coming up on our company Christmas party (oh, excuse me, non-specific winter festival luncheon  ) and a couple of women in my office had been wearing these garments pre-soiree, one or two looking rather festive and dapper, I found myself in Marshall's the other day actually fingering one of them thoughtfully until a voice, no doubt heard here and no doubt Debie's screeched in my head "TEACHER SWEATER!" whereupon I snatched my hand back as if burned. :D

:D :D Hahahahahahaha. You guys. :D

Canice - NOOOOOOO. One must not combine the corduroys! Can you imagine the "whooshing"!

There's another thread floating around now - I DESERVE that teacher sweater!!!! But never will I wear it.

That would be worth the money to just see Debie in something like that! :)

Canice,

I think cords look really cute matched with a camisole/cardigan combo on top, or with a denim shirt, also with a cami underneath. Those western style cotton shirts look good too, the ones with little flower prints.
