I noticed that many of us said we were great at eating healthy and controlling portions during the week but not so good on the weekends. Sooooooo......I just thought I'd post a reminder for myself and anyone else that if I have to go nuts on the bad food choices I can at least remind myself about portions and maybe throw in a salad with LF dressing.

Anyone else with a weekend tip?

Simply take advantage of a lovely weekend in June (if you work Mon.-Fri.) to breathe easier and get outdoors and do something fun and active...it need not be strenuous or long, and if it is social, so much the better!

Trite but what the hey...

I've got a long walk on the beach planned for Sunday morning already- so I'm right there with you! Already had some fries at lunch today so maybe I got it out of my system early this week http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

I tend to go into foraging mode occasionally when I postpone my workout until later in the day -- it's like a snowball effect, but once I go for a run, the cravings disappear, so I guess my suggestion is to work out early! And since it's the weekend, make it a good one -- go for a hike, a long run, whatever. Along the lines of what Natasha said, just enjoy yourself! You won't want to eat much "bad" stuff, and a little splurge won't make you feel so guilty. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Interesting, I'm the opposite. I'm always so busy during the week, that I end up eating fattening restaurant food or grabbing not very healthy food from home. (I can't believe I'm admitting this, but this morning I had two big spoonfuls of Nutella for breakfast! Oh Emily--why did you ever introduce me to Nutella!) Anyway, back on topic, maybe you could use some free time on the weekend to cook yummy healthy food. That's what I do, so on the weekends I'm eating all the yummy healthy food I made. Now if only I could get enough made on the weekends to last me the whole week!

Bummer, I've already consumed about 800 calories worth of cookies tonite...oh, I really really really hope it wasn't 800 calories worth of cookies. Anyway - Emily, I like your idea of going for a long run...I always do the same amount (within a half-mile), but maybe I'll try to lengthen it out tomorrow.

I'm jealous of your plan to go to the beach, MelissaAS. Here in Milwaukee, it's still in the 40's when I take my morning run. And right now it's raining. Yikes - when is summer going to get here?

Have a great week-end everyone, and I love the encouragement for the weekend; just wish I had read it about two hours ago, before the cookie binge began http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif.

As for my weekend: The walk on the beach was a rain-out. French fries (twice!) and ice cream (once) but not a complete loss (I resisted chocolate cake). The struggle continues...

Resisted chocolate cake...impressive!! I had my typical "blow any kind of diet" week-end. I reported on my cookie-fest Friday night. Then, we went out for mexican Saturday night - lots of chips. And ended the night with a bowl of frozen yogurt with no pudge brownies and butterscotch chips on top. I know, I'm beyond hope, but hey, at least the brownies were no pudge! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
