For Christmas Eve, I'd love to put a Christmas cracker at everyone's seat. We have 30-some people for dinner, so this could be an expensive endeavor. I'm looking for fairly nice ones at a price that isn't horrible. Living in the US, I realize this might be an impossible task, but if you have any suggestions, I'd love them!

We have gotten them from Marshall's/TJMaxx relatively inexpensively - if you wait until a couple days before the 24th, they'll mark them dowm too.

I think I have seen them at Cost Plus World Market if you have a store in your area.

Ebay has all kinds, even tho most of them seem to be cartoon themed. They have some "make your own" kits, tho, that you might enjoy.

We have crackers at Christmas morning brunch started long ago when we lived in Scotland. I now buy them online(as I do most everything these days! ;) ). A fairly reasonable site is Old English Crackers (http://www.oldenglishcrackers.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1_5) , where they run about $1 each though there are some a bit more expensive.

Thank you for all your suggestions! I had been looking at the ones at Old English Crackers, and the musical concerto ones crack me up! :) I can just imagine my family trying to play songs with the little one-note-instruments. I had totally overlooked Marshall's and TJMaxx  ! I figure that World Market would have them; Sur la Table has a few sets, too. I suppose my biggest obstable is the sad lament I hear from DBF when he sees the price and the quality. He'll start to moan about how readily available inexpensive, better-quality crackers are in England ... ;)
Do I enlist my brother to bring some over from London, do I buy online, or get them here in Ohio? Decisions, decisions ...

I was at Cost Plus tonight. They had all their crackers on sale for 50% off. They had a pack of 24 for $21.99; only $11.00 after the discount.

Have you tried (called) Yankee Trader in the Short North?

In addition to TJ Maxx and Marshalls, Home Goods/Place has them too. I bought some on clearance last year, and picked up a few more this season. We lived in England for a year growing up, and my mom used to make them for us every year. Maybe next year, I can find some time to do that - I'd love to make our own.
