I hope you don't mind me posting this here, but food bloggers around the world have put together a raffle, called A Menu for Hope, to benefit the UN World Food Programme (http://www.wfp.org/english/).

You can find information about here (http://chezpim.typepad.com/blogs/2006/12/menu_for_hope_i.html) or on my blog.

There are many great prizes being offered and raffle tickets are $10 per ticket.

How about winning a 5-course dinner for two at the French Culinary Institute (http://www.foodite.com/foodite/2006/12/menu_for_hope_3.html)? Or maybe a set of 4 books signed by Anthony Bourdain (http://chaxiubao.typepad.com/chaxiubao/2006/12/menu_for_hope_i.html)? Yea, the prizes are that good.

Next year I hope to offer up a prize, but this year I'm just entering the raffle and helping to promote it. :)

Wow! Those are awesome prizes. We're on our way out the door for dinner, but I'm definitely going to enter the raffle. Even better that it's for such a great cause. Thanks for sharing the information...I'm sure I wouldn't have known about it otherwise! :)

I just wanted to post that it might be fun to post what we're entering and/or if we win anything.........

I haven't had a chance to look through the prizes yet, but I hope to sometime this weekend.

Looks like they're up to $20k so far and there's still almost a week left to go. Last year they raised $17k total!

That was fun! I bought two raffle tickets:

One for the Armchair Food Tour of the SF Bay Area, which is a basket of food goodies from that area.

One for a copy of the cookbook Arabesque by Claudia Roden and a $25 Penzey's Gift Certificate.

When you go to donate/purchase your raffle ticket, it's kind of cool because you can see what other people are selecting as prizes.

A ticket for UC12 will put you in the running for some of Jeni's Ice Cream, an amazing specialty ice-cream store in Columbus. So good.

Thanks for reminding people about this! :)
