Since I started eating more fiber I have noticed that I experience much more ...nausea. That may be too strong a word but it is close. I know fiber is supposed to make you feel fuller longer, so I don't know if I am confusing this with feel full. I am wondering if anyone else feels like this?

Hi. There are two types of fiber but in any of them when increasing fiber in your diet you must also increase your water consumption. Try doing that and see if it helps http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

I believe that it takes your body a little while to get used to significantly more fiber than it has had in the past. Maybe try increasing your intake gradually, and see if that helps. Good luck http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Thanks Vanessa and Natasha, appreciate your help.

I was reading a label and saw where there is soluble and insoluble fiber, geesh. Guess I'll be reading up on that next.

Thanks again!

After having radiation to my stomach area which left me with enteritis and malabsorption, I have had to pay very close attention to the types of fiber that I eat. I have definately found that insoluble fiber- in things like seeds, popcorn, wheat bran, and fibrous vegetables causes the most discomfort and distress for me. On the other hand, soluble fiber- in oats, beans, cooked veggies and some citrus fruits actually coats my stomach and makes me feel better.

I know that everything is so individual but it may help you to cut back a bit on the insoluble and increase the soluble to lessen the nausea. Soluble will keep you feeling full, but with less of the gassiness and pain.

Wow, I am glad I checked on this. I had posted a reply of thanks Becca that just didn't take, I guess.

I really appreciate the help with this topic!
