View Full Version : Term for Pope's hat?

I had friends over last night for a holiday get-together. One guest brought two bottles of a chateauneauf du pape as his contribution (which were delicous, btw). Anyway, each bottle had a imprint of the pope's hat in the glass, but no one could remember the term used to describe the hat itself.

I tried a web search, however could not find the term, just a thousand sites wanting to sell me something.

Does anyone know the correct terminology?

Thanks!
Nancy

According to wikipedia it is called the episcopal mitre. I'm not sure if that is correct though.

LOL when i read the thread title, i thought you meant that there was a "term" as in a certain length of time for the pope's hat to be worn! :D hahah!!
