I know this is a strange topic, but I need help. I know one of you out there must be able to help me out. My belly ring is an actual ring secured with a small ball. Last night the ball came unsecured from one side (so it got caught on my clothes :eek http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif. Now I can't get it back together; the ball just slides back and forth. Is there some trick to this? I really don't want to have to go somewhere to have it fixed. Please help! I would SO appreciate it.

djoygirl,
Everything that I have heard regarding piercings is you need to go back to your professional. It dangerous not to have it looked at. Good luck.

My 3 teens and I don't have any body piercings (besides ears http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif), but some of their friends do.. I do know that if you get any piercings from a licensed studio/parlor and have any problems no matter how long it's been-just go in and they will help you.
And if you did it yourself or had a friend/someone else do it ( http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/frown.gif) you should without hesitation, go into a licensed parlor and ask for help. Don't try to fix/do it yourself-you may need a whole new replacement ring. (I used to work with a lady that did piercings part-time, and told me about alot of probs. that people never want to come in for).
My 18yo son's girlfriend had one with lots of probs. and had it taken out permanently. I coaxed her to go for help and her parents & I talked to the owner of the parlor asking LOTS of ? and he let us in on alot. Definitely, go to a professional, ok?. Sorry to be so long-winded! I hope you are ok, and go to a pro. for help. Take care, http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif Zinnia

I have had my belly ring (the same kind as yours) for 5 years now and only had to take it out once for an MRI. I called the studio I had it done at to have them put it back in and they didn't charge me a cent. As the others have said, always make sure that all instuments they use are surgicaly packaged and even after 5 years I still rotate the ring with soap while in the shower. You can never be to careful. My SIL on the other hand changes her belly ring herself all the time. I guess it depends on how squimish you are!

Sorry, I didn't really answer your question. To remove the ring you pull the sides away from the ball and twist, it doesn't screw on at all. If your ball is just sliding around then it sounds like your ring is broken in some way. So once again see the place you had it done at and have them either show you how to work it, or if it's broken have them replace it.

Yeah, I would go back to the piercing place. It may be bent or something. I have an L-bar which is great because it rarely gets caught on stuff.

Thanks to everyone for their input. I finally just went to a place that does them (my place is in another state, since I've moved). The person who did it originally put the wrong kind of ball fixture on it. What a hassle. I got a new one, which was bigger, but took it out today. The original wasn't done very well, and the piercing isn't very deep, so I fear it ripping out http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/eek.gif I'm kind of disappointed, but decided it's not worth the risk http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/frown.gif
