Anyone out there over the holiday week and want to check in?

I had a rough week exercise-wise last week (only got in 2 sessions- work was a bear) but eating was back under control. I was off Mon-Tue before the holiday and really enjoyed getting my workout in (and over with/off my mind) in the mornings before heading to the beach...

Hope everyone's feeling good and enjoying the holiday week. Take good care!

I hope this will post, as it has been a frustrating week only on this BB.

I have been doing very well - started TaeBo and love it. I took yesterday off, as I felt a little achy from the day before. I am feeling a difference in my arms and thighs already. I definitely am using muscles I did not know existed!!!

I have been noticing that I am not as hungry so I have not been over eating. However, that ususally occurs with PMS. I am trying to drink water, but that is still a battle.

Overall, I am pleased with the past week, and hope it continues.

Hope this posts!

Apart from jonesing for the BB over the last week, I've also been continuing my cycle every day routine. On the not-so-great side, I haven't been lifting or doing a home practice of yoga. I keep telling myself it's because DH rearranged the furniture in the family room & now there's no space, but really, when I get home after a very hot bike ride, it's all I can do to bring myself to put my bike away! I need to find a good reason to get back on track there.

Yesterday, I went to a yoga class with a friend who was able to bring a buddy for free. It was really different from what I'm used to. She had much more of an emphasis on yoga as workout, using poses to maximize muscular work the same way an aerobics instructor might, to the neglect of using poses to balance the work among different parts of the body. My shoulders actually hurt today, and I think it's because we didn't do cobra or anything to relieve the work from plank pose. I wonder if this happens a lot--a health club instructor takes a bunch of yoga classes and just starts teaching yoga, without the understanding of the entire discipline of yoga. My friend, who started these kinds of classes at the same time I began at the meditation center, is probably progressing more quickly than I am, but I wonder if having relative beginners do fish pose is really helpful to them before they have a foundation of all the basic poses. Different strokes, I guess. But that style is not for me!

Have a great week, everyone! And stay hydrated! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

Hello! Things are going okay here. I started a 10k training program this week, and so far it is going good, but tomorrow will be the long run. That will be the big test. I also joined Curves For Women with a coworker. The facility is two doors down from my office in the same building, so going will be really easy. I have been twice so far and while not an amazingly intense workout, I think it is going to help with some toning and will meet my goal of doing some exercise other than just running.

My biggest struggle right now is drinking enough water. I find myself dehydrated more often than not lately. I have really been trying hard to do better but still not doing as well as I would like.

Funnybone- Glad to hear that you are enjoying the TaeBo. I did it for a while this winter when I could not run due to an injury. I really enjoyed it and could also see rapid improvement. Gina

Hello everyone!

Even with the rains, my holiday week has been filled with wonderful walking.

Melissa, I’ve been waiting through all the days of the downed message boards to thank you and the others who gave me all the great input on step aerobics. I love the idea of looking for the aqua/purple step at tag sales – what a fabulous incentive to get up and out there at 7:30 early Saturday mornings! In the meantime, I’ve been stepping on a 4-inch incline out on the covered deck watching and listening to the July rain, and it’s been really enjoyable. I love it. I haven’t been to the library to study the techniques yet – can I do any damage in the meantime?

Vanessa, we took a nice hike at our barbecue on the 4th, and celebrated with lots of guiltless ice cream later on!!!!
