It's time for a new over the range micro. I am considering, and got a very good price on the Stainless GE Profile Advantium (model SCA1001KSS). I really can't find any reviews of this item. Any experience with this type of appliance, especially this model.
Thanks!

BUMP!
Yikes, any experience or opinions before I plunk down $620for this appliance?
My present OTR micro lasted 5 years- I think I paid about 500 for this Sharp model. I've actually never been happy with it's performance.
I definately want a micro/convection model- the question is whether to spend the extra 100 or so on this for the "speed cooking" function" and also whether GE has been a realiable brand.
TIA for any responses!

This is one I am considering as well. I think in general GE Profile is pretty reliable, moreso than "normal" GE appliances. I'd love to know if anyone has experience with this as well...

I have the Kenmore version. It's about 2 years old. It performs well, no problems. It's user friendly and came with a laminated card I hang on my fridge that walks me through the convection directions, as I admittedly---don't use this feature all that often. It's more of a second oven for me in that sense. Otherwise, it functions every day as a microwave. Not sure what I paid, but I doubt it was that close to $600.

On another note, I'm not as happy with my other 2 year old Kenmore appliances, but this one I am.

Thanks for your replies and opinions. DH is working with my sister now on installing it. I'll let you know what I think in a few days!

I've been wanting one of these and would be interested in hearing how you like it. Also, where did you find it at such a good price?

So far, so good! I really like it :) What an improvement over my last OTR micro, an expensive Sharp "piece of crap".

We baked corn bread in mini loaf pans, which cooked beautifully, browned nicely and tasted great ( no, not from scratch- we're cornbread "failures"! TJ's has a tasty mix, however :))

The micro function works very well for the usual reheating stuff. Tonight I cooked some seasoned chicken breasts. I would have used a grill pan for these, but we did want to try out the speedcook function. They cooked/browned well and were tender.

It's really nice to have this 2nd oven that heats and cooks quickly- I never used convection before.

So, thumbs up. I'm not sure about the Kenmore version mentioned and how it compares in features/performance- I'd imagine it costs less.
I actually got ours when I was in NY last week, so sorry I can't steer you to a bargain here in MA :(
