So I want to have our usual gang over for a re-gifting party this weekend. I just don't want it to feel like another weekend hanging out at our house. I want themed food! themed drinks! themed decorations!
But sadly I don't have much in the idea department.

For drinks, I've got Marga-repeat-a
For food I've got refried beans, twice baked potatoes, and turkey tetrazzini and fruit cake(although fun, none sound quite delicious enough to be party food)
For decorations I'm stumped.

I don't mind obnoxious or cheesy :) Any ideas?

Okay, I'm no help on the food, but for decorations, I'd use a mishmash of "leftover" decorations. St. Pat's Day? Sure! Valentine's Day? Yep! 40th Birthday Bash? Absolutely! Personally, I'd troll the bargain bins at the party mart for really obnoxious child's birthday decorations, baby shower stuff, etc.

why not ask everyone to bring leftovers with the gift they plan on repeating? :D

what a fun party idea!

This might be dumb.... but for dessert, maybe "half" a birthday cake. Or even make a cake that looks like a top of a wedding cake. It's not going with the Christmas theme -- but the reuse, leftover theme. I'll keep thinking.

This party theme sounds like a blast! How do you run it? Is it like a white elephant exchange, where everyone takes a number & can either open a new gift or steal someone else's? Are they supposed to bring tacky gifts that no one would want (like the W.E. exchange), or nice gifts that just aren't to their liking?

Love the decor idea of using up items from prior special events. Am trying to come up with food ideas; will post if I do.

BeachBum, I love the ReGift party idea! My cousin's husband is a teacher at a hoity toity kids' school and notorious for regifting. It has become a running joke, and every year I save their Christmas card and send it to them the next year with my husband and my faces pasted over their son & daughter's. Maybe you could mail out used cards as the invites? Just cross out the original sentiments and pencil in your own!!

Fun thread! Keep us posted.

We do a January White Elephant Party at a friend's house every year and everything served is white...white plates, napkins, cheese balls, dumplings, etc...you get the idea! Just another idea!
