Tomorrow is our Brownie meeting on friendship! I would like to touch on feelings, how to be a good friend, etc. We are going to do a role playing activity and I'm looking for ideas that I can give the girls about the role playing. So far my daughter and I have come up with the following:

You want to be part of a club, but the rules say you can't talk to anyone outside of the club. Your best friend is not in the club. What do you do?

There is a new person in your class. How can you make them feel welcome? What do you think they are feeling?

You usually have lunch with a group of friends, but you want to have lunch with someone else today. What do you do?

You have a group of friends and two of them get in a fight? What do you do?

Any other ideas on what we could do to role play? I really want to help them avoid cliques, and to help them make good choices. Also I want to help them deal with hurt feelings. Any thoughts are welcome!!!!

Thanks,
Kim & Olivia

I think those are a great start! I'd probably divide them into groups of 2 or 3, and give each of the groups one of these situations, then have them act out what they would do in front of the group.

Here are a couple more:

You can tell that someone in your class is upset at recess. What would you do?

One of your best friends tells you that she doesn't like another girl, and wants you to agree to stop being friends with her too. What should you tell her?

Good luck - let us know how it goes! I'd like to do something similar in my own troop. :)

You are in charge of picking members of a team at recess. One girl is bad at sports and always gets picked last. What do you do?

Good luck to you and God bless you for trying to teach them such a valuable lesson. I'll bet there isn't a woman alive who doesn't still smart from hurt feelings inflicted by other little girls when they were small.
