Okay, DH has a conference set for Saddlebrook in Tampa. My DS and myself may accompany him. Does anyone know anything firsthand about the resort? I am also going to search it on the web but I thought I would ask here!

I was there many moons ago (OK, like 12 years) on business.

Saddlebrook appeared to be a bunch of privately owned condos that are rented out when the owners aren't using them--low rise buildings that were spread out. It's not the Ritz, but it was alright.

The resort is VERY golf-centric. My favorite form of entertainment was cruising around in a golf cart looking for alligators.

I had a rental car and remember driving a decent distance from the airport. You will want a car, especially if you want to go to the beach. Saddlebrook is NOT on the beach.

As a late 20s single woman, I was most certainly NOT the most common demographic--it seemed more like an empty-nester type of place. A dozen years ago, so this may have changed.

Tracy, thank you for responding. From the stuff I have to look at, it does seem like a Golf place. Not bad, mind you, DH loves golf. We are not paying for this trip so it sounds like it will meet all needs. I called them direct, and they did state that there is a kids club for DS age 8. DH checked with the people that are sponsering the function and they said that DS is very much welcomed. I am looking forward to it. Does anyone know the temp in Tampa during the latter part of Feb?

Well, being it reached almost *90 degrees* today, it's no telling what you'll encounter when you get here. Apparently it's unusually warm everywhere this season. A friend in Maine said is reached the mid 70's there today and was humid. I'd just take a look at weather.com a few days before you leave for your trip to decide what to pack. (Even then there's potential to screw up!)

I usually do go to weather.com before packing. I am excited that the trip came up so I was kind of trying to get myself excited about sitting in warm weather by the pool. :D I think we are going to go a few days early and take DS to Busch Gardens. I can't wait!

Jodi, I'm from Tampa. Saddlebrook is all GOLF! There isn't much else to do there. Of course there is alot of other things to do in Tampa.

How old is DS? Busch Gardens is wonderful, there is Epcot and Disney world only 1 hour away and of course there is MOSI, the Museum of Science and Industry, which always has a revolving display.

I now live in Richmond, but Tampa holds my heart. There is some really good eating in Tampa and of course if you're warm blooded, there are the beaches in Winter,, BURRRRR....
